Default total download wide open issue

when i turn on limewire and it connects.. the total download scale slams wide open and i cant search or download or even load webpages while its happening... seems to stop when i reach a couple mbs on the scale and runs fine after... how do i stop this massive imcoming before i even do anything? what is it doing and downloading when thats happening? im using limewire 4.12.3 and ive had it happen before with old versions.. i appreciate any help that can be given. thanks..

Perhaps you may try the 4.13 then?? I have found it to be a little more stable of late, but what bandwidth do you have set for downloads/uploads??

thanks john. but nothing seems to be helping.. ive adjusted the incoming and outgoing settings to everything.. and even tried restoring my comp to a month ago before this started, deleting limewire completely and putting it back. now im trying the 4.12.11 current issue.. i complety went through and took off everything limewire related first and started fresh... im still having this massive incoming stream of nothing... for example.. my total downstream was up at 5000kb while my http total & http content was only at 700kb.. (im on dialup).. even if i hit the disconnect button i still have this massive total downstream.. sometimes the total downstream will slow up after a couple thousand kbs and become equal with the http total &content like it should..
thats the best i can describe of whats happening

Dial up? Dial up limit is normally 56 kbps. Which equates to between 5-7 KB/s

total downstream lords... when that had reached 5000kbs.. the total http content was only at 700kbs... the total for each at that time.. not my incoming speed..
