everything works fine turbo charged conection and fast search results but downloads no faster than 2 kbps and that is seldom most times its 0 or 1. the brick is over the globe but it always has been and i use to get speeds up to 200 kbps.

As a test try d/loading a file from here: http://www.magnetmix.com/audio2.shtml.

You should get pretty fast d/load speeds. If you don't, that may mean your isp has started throttling p2p apps. You could call them and ask, though they might not say. Could be they only do it during peak hours, so try d/loading at different times of the day.

Could also be related to your firewall. You'd need to post your system details: System details - help us to help you.

If you haven't already, turn off your xp firewall. Not advisable to have 2 firewalls running at the same time.

Your router has a nat firewall in it. you'll need to set it for upnp or forward a port. I've read it's better to forward a port with your type of router.

First step is to set up a static ip(very important, won't work without it): How to set up a static IP address on a Windows XP computer.

Then forward the port: Port Forwarding for the Dlink DI-524

Found this article that suggests that your isp is shaping/filtering p2p traffic: Source Cable & Wireless selects Sandvine Peer-To-Peer Policy Management. If so the only solution maybe to switch isp's.

You can try changing the port LW uses to connect to the network. In LW go to Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall Config, And try changing the Listen On Port to something between 50000-65000.

Hey guys thanks alot. After adjusting the ports to somewhere between 50000and 65000, the speeds are actually reaching 25KB'S. But where do you suggest a good benchmark number to start at?

Try doing a couple speed tests. Remember LW shows speeds in kilobytes(KB/s) and ISP's usually advertise speeds in kilobits(kb/s).
1 byte = 8 bits.
