Question help very new(misnamed video files)

to anyone and everyone that can help!!!
been searching for answers but cant find any. i know loads of people have problems with downloading episodes and they turn out to be the wrong ones, Is it possible to change the title so that other people dont end up downloading the wrong episodes, been trying to download ******** season 2 episodes 17 and 18 for ages but keep getting earlier episodes, if any one can help with getting the correct episodes i'd be very very grateful!!!
Also can someone tell me how do i delete episodes that i know are wrong that i've already downloaded, cause i thought i was deleting them but obviously not as others are still able to download from me, and i cant find them anywhere to delete again, and feel really bad cause i know there not downloading what they think they are!
thanks, samantha

Sorry.... I've been meaning to reply to you for awhile now...
As Birdy explained via pm my neighbours cat just got mauled by a dog and I had to race her up to the vet...
Look your files up with Bitzi ....
This thread will explain what and how to use it....

that link really helped at least now i know if it's the correct copy or not, as before i had to wait for them to download cause i cant preview them. Just need help on one other thing, i said before that i was deleting the episodes after i found out they were the wrong ones but others are still downloading them from me, obviously they dont know how to check if it's a good copy or not! At least i'm not the only one that hasn't a clue. I've tried everything to search for these files incase they were saved else where but i cant find them. i didn't think it was possible for people to download from me if i didn't have the files anymore. Is this right?

Correct. If you see uploads occurring in your monitor window, then you must still have the files somewhere. Otherwise, you would see the message 'file not found' whenever someone tries to download a file that you just deleted.

The easiest way to access files is this: go into your Limewire library and find the file in question. Select it and click 'Explore' in bottom left of screen. The folder that contains the file will now open.

If you can't find the file that way, try using your computer's search function.

By the way, what do you mean you can't preview files? I would recommend disabling the Limewire player if you have not done so. Tools...options...player and uncheck 'Use Limewire Player'. Then, all of your previews will be shown on the default player for that type of file. Try VLC player if you like...it's free and will play most file types. If you still are having no luck, you can always try going into your 'incomplete' folder and manually opening files from there. Not all files are easily previewed, as you may not download it in order. But, if you use Bitzi as WW suggested, there will be little reason for you to preview files (unless you have dial-up and it takes a long time to DL a video).

Best of luck

Dano

muhctekdano,

thanks for your advice, what i meant about not being able to preview the downloads is that i had to wait untill they were fully downloaded before i could play them, but like you said thanks to wondering why i dont need to be able to preview them!! it's great!!! but i did what you suggested even thought i have no idea what it meant!
with the files that people are downloading from me that i've deleted, as far as i can tell there not anywhere in my library, and i have checked using the computer search and nothing is coming up for them so i'm at a bit of a loss as to where they are, but as you said people cant download from me if i've deleted them (properly) so they have to be some where, i'll just have to keep on looking.
thanks
samantha.

If you deleted them from your limewire library they would be gone...You are probably still seeing the uploaders as they where there before you deleted the files...
Try shutting LW down and they should be gone....

Just to be sure though try your computers search function and type the file name in....

If you would ever like to preview a file whilst downloading get the WMP codecs as VLC wont preview in earlier versions of LW...
This is a good codec pack....

wondering why

thanks very much shutting the computer down worked they are all gone now!!

the link you gave me about the codec i went into it and clicked to download it it came up in my folders but when i tried to open it a warning came up:

compressed (zipped) folders warning,
This application may depend on other compressed files in this folder.
For the Application to run properly it is recommended that you first extract all files.

?????? ( this didn't actually appear, just to show how confused i am)

firstly i have no idea what a compressed zipped folder is, or what it means to extract all the files, i know it recommends to do it, but in all honesty you could recommend me to jump off a cliff and i'd proberly do it!!!

Do i extract all, Run or Cancel??

sorry to bother you AGAIN
thanks
samantha.

by the way how's the cat?

A compressed Zip folder just means that there are a number of files placed inside the folder and there all squished in lol...
You usually need WinZip or something like that to open them up and unsquish them...
When you select download, a window will pop up, select the save option, once it's downloaded and saved try the run option, I think that should do it ....I can't remember what I did it was that long ago...

The cat didn't make it, she had such severe injuries she had to be put down, she was 12 years old the poor thing ....Needless to say the dog responsible has been shipped off to a farm, I also told my neighbour that I will be her witness if she wants to take the matter further...
