uploads To me, filesharing means just that. Sharing. Can anyone tell me why I never see "uploads" when I look at my monitor in Limewire?? I'd hate to be seen as a user who just takes files without giving in return. Perhaps it's just that I've such a crap taste in music that nobody wants them, but I somehow doubt that lol. Anyone with ideas out there?? |

Do you see the firewall icon (brick wall in front of the blue globe)? In LW go tools > options > bug reports > view example. Scroll down to 'recieved incoming this session'...is it true or false? If it's false then you can't recieve incoming connections from other computers...therefore nobody can download from you. If you want more help, please give some info System details - help us to help you |

You have a firewall someware, that limeWire dose not have access to pass through. System details - help us to help you Please. Cut n paste these Questions, put your answers in bold text Thank You. Recently there's been a problem with people not providing enough details about their setup - despite being asked again & again. So let's make it easy for everyone...the details that we need if we're going to be able to help with complex problems are: 1. what OS version? (eg: Windows 98, XP,OSX, Vista) 2. What firewalls you have ? 3. How much ram ? 4. Hard Disk space available ? 5. Connection type (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) ? 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers ? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.) ? 8. What version,LimeWire & Java,Go to L/W's Help/About L/W, THIS show both LW & Java version.? 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider) ? 10. Do this test click here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ should say 'Your test worked!. What happens ? 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.? 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface ? 14. Have you given full permisions for LimeWire to pass through your Firewall ? 15. XP users, Please state XP firewall on or off.? These are all contained within the sticky Connection problems? Check here first! but possibly some people are getting a bit confused or lost when we direct them to this sticky & ask them to provide their details. This information can be vital For instance, some ISPs are known for blocking p2p/throttling bandwidth, some connection devices are known for being unreliable in certain situations. So please, help us to help you & provide as much info as you can. If you're new to LW or new to computers & aren't sure how to answer some questions, or don't know what an ISP or router is - just say so. Nobody's going to yell at you:wink: Even if you can't answer all the questions in one go...don't worry. Do the best you can & we'll take it from there. __________________ Peace.

Don't use McAfee firewall & XP firewall together, they'll interfere with each other. Turn off the XP firewall & just use McAfee. When you set up port forwarding for the Motorola, did you set up a static IP address first? Check to make sure that LW's listening port, the port forwarded & the number in LW's 'manual port forward' box (tools > options > advanced > firewall config) are all the same number. Did you use these instructions for port forwarding? http://www.portforward.com/english/r...0/Limewire.htm Go back through those & double check your setup Your version of Java's pretty old Update & use the JRE offline installer here. Remove your old Java version before you install the new one. http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp |

AVG Free doesn't have a firewall, so you don't have to worry about that. Enable UPnP in your router, then choose the UPnP option within LW's tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Apply > ok. Give it 10 mins or so to see whether the brick wall goes away. If you're not sure about how to enable UPnP, here's the router manual...there's a section in there which tells you how. http://www.siemens.com/Daten/siecom/...01_1274276.pdf If that doesn't help, you could try port forwarding. Have a look at the instructions below http://www.portforward.com/english/r...0/Limewire.htm Don't forget to set up a static IP address first, port forwarding won't work otherwise. You'll see a link to that within those instructions. And remember...the port number forwarded, LW's listening port & the number in LW's 'manual port forward' box all have to be the same. |
