limewire corrupt file error
 

I was trying to get Limewire to run on my new laptop (if you dont like Limewire, i am up for suggestions.) and it keeps telling me I am trying to install LimeWire on Windows, and I keep getting an error message saying that the installer is corrupt; the faq support tells me to:

Delete the installer that you have already downloaded and clear your browser's cache, then try downloading it again. Also make sure that you are not using any download managers or download accelerators as they have been known to produce these errors.

I have uninstalled, deleted, installed, ran installer, have been getting the same error message again and again. when I save a file, it automatically goes to the download manager. Also, clearing cache, is that the browser history? If not, where would I find that on Netscape 7.2?

Try this:

1. Reinstall Java using the JRE offline installer. Remove any old versions of Java before you install the new one.

2. Delete LW's preferences folder. See point 3 below. Make sure to show hidden files & folders.

If that doesn't help, can you disable your download manager? Or try using another browser? I don't have a clue where cache is in Netscape! In firefox it's tools > options > privacy > private data > settings & there are options for clearing cache, cookies, browsing history etc.

i installed the JAVA JRE, and i followed all directions you gave me for installing gthe limewire and its still not working. I have deleted all the javas and limewire doing the search engines and when upon last installation of limewire, it is still giving me an error message. do you think it had anything to do with the download manager that Limewire discussed not using the download manager.
Is there anything else I can try
