Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. experienced user, long running problem, i always thought it was my dial up and no that i have cable i noticed it was slow 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? this will sound noobish but i dont see a world icon anywhere these are my system specs to the best of my knowledge. okay i have configured my max bandwidth slightly lower than it is rated at. But i am still downloading at a rate no more than 10 KBps, and when it reaches 10 it immediately goes right back down to about 3-5 KBps. And whats even more annoying is that most of the time it doesnt go above 5 and hovers around 1 or 2. I have a cable connection at around 700 KBps and an upload rate of about 45 KBps, why am i still downloading so slowly? My buddy has the same connection through the same company and downloads file (videos especially) at speeds ranging from the 20s to the 60s. One thing i just thought of is that i may need to upgrade my limewire... PLEASE HELP ![]() |

![]() ***Your explanation of your dramatic drop in download speed nearly mirrors my "problem." My ISP has begun to pull the plug on downloaders of copyrighted material...music, movies, applications, etc. In my case, it was the plethora of videos I downloaded with my cable company's blazing 4-5 MBs. My ISP, Adams Cable of Carbondale, PA, told me that they receive more than 50 abuse complaints a day, mostly from Hollywood studios who "seed" with their own digital material, then track who is downloading it. It is not difficult for the studios to find out what computer ID is downloading and through which ISP the computer is connected. (I'm told that videos with "aXXo" in the title are studio seeds for tracking purposes.) I suspect your ISP is placing severe download speed limits on all P2P networks. Other than P2Ps, my download speed remains high (you can test yours at http://speakeasy.net ... click on the link in the lower right side of the home page). If your download speed test is satisfactory, yet your P2P downloads crawl slower than a snail, you've been targeted by your ISP and there isn't anything you can do about it since such activities violates the legal terms you agreed to to get their service. |

![]() I would definatley upgrade as the LW you are using is a bit outdated.... Try downloading this http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml and see what speeds you get.... ![]()

Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Been using LW several weeks, had the problem with constant disconnections, fixed that thanks to the excellent help on the forums here ![]() 13. Unless some very nice kind person can point out something I've missed, I can only think that BT are being horrid ![]() |

![]() It is more than likely BT because they are known to throttle and shape p2p... But you can try to Port Forward you router and see if that helps at all... http://www.portforward.com/english/r...0/Limewire.htm Don't forget the static IP part, it's very important.... ![]()

![]() thank you very much, i also have one more question. I just upgraded to LW 4.12 or whichever the newest one is. Whenever anyone (my mom my sister and I) sign on to my computer using each of our names, LW pops up without me opening it. It is getting really annoying, and everytime i close it, a minute later it pops back up again. Do you know how to fix this? I turned off the feature for LW to start up when windows does and it still does it. |
