Virus in Limewire 2.02

My virus software deted the W32.dlder.trojan virus after installing Limewire. I am eliminiting it now. The following URL from the symantec site indicates the virus is part of the Limewire and Grokster install.

I agree.

Same thing has happened to me. I "quarantined" the file, but now find that my ADSL modem hangs after a variable period of time - don't know if this is related?

i got the same from pc-cillin. apparently, it's by design. see http://www.antivirus.com/vinfo/virus...LDER.A&VSect=T

will limewire not work w/o the virus? pc-cillin automatically blocked it, but i can't get anything to download.

I tried installing Version 2.02 tonight and also received an error message on my Antivirus software that said that didler.exe was found. I deleted the file and started up Limewire no problem. Then lost my internet connection. Reinstalled Zone Alert and got my Internet connections back.

Limewire was working OK but then received intermitent problems connecting while I was fiddling with the connection options.

There are connection problems reported separately under a different thread. That may be an unrelated problems to the virus in the install package.

THANK YOU!

Thank you for posting this!!! My computer spontaneously rebooted a day after installing the Limewire 2.0 beta, and when it restarted I got an error message "Explorer.exe failed to load." Of course, it sounded like a serious error but everything seemed to work fine. I poked around a little and discovered the fake version of Explorer.exe! I submitted it to Symantec on 12/25 (or so) but never heard back from them. The virus notice you linked to was posted on 12/27, so they must have id'd it soon after I submitted it. I didn't know for sure, though, which program had Done It!
