![]() Hello, My system: Windows XP Pro 512mb ram Comcast/ Earthlink Cable Internet Linksys Wireless G Router Zone Alarm Basic Firewall Ever since I downloaded the updated Limewire, I click to download a song, but despite the number of seeders, it says connecting, but will not download. I do not think it is a firewall issue, but maybe it is. I have checked, and limewire is allowed under program control? Any way I can get the older version back?? Thanks |

![]() My system: Windows XP Home 640 MB of RAM 100 kbps download speed I was having the same problem with the older version. I updated to the new version yesterday and it is still happening. It's not a network problem, and as deadhead said, the number of seeders doesn't matter. I just attempted a download with 100, and after 'connecting' for 15 minutes, I was told I need more sources. I'm beginning to wonder if it's an issue with a Windows Update. I just got a few automatic updates and Limewire hasn't worked since. My firewall has it as an exception, too. I've already messed with every setting I can think of, any help would be appreciated. |

What firewalls you have ? 3. How much ram ? 4. Hard Disk space available ? 5. Connection type (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) ? 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers ? 7. So please, help us to help you & provide as much info as you can. If you're new to LW or new to computers & aren't sure how to answer some questions, or don't know what an ISP or router is - just say so. Nobody's going to yell at you:wink: Even if you can't answer all the questions in one go...don't worry. Do the best you can & we'll take it from there. __________________ Peace.

![]() I tried your suggestion of unchecking the license warning. Mine wasn't checked, so that's not the issue. I deleted the window's updates but that didn't help. I re-downloaded LW just to make sure I wasn't missing any files. That didn't fix it. I downloaded the beta version (4.13.2) of LW. Some things download very slowly, others (even with 100 sources) just say they're connecting and never download. |

![]() 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) Vista 2. What firewalls you have? Norton Protection Center - I have configured it to allow LimeWire all the time 3. How much ram? 2gig 4. Hard Disk space available? 500gig 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) cable 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Webstar DPC2100 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? house 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 4.12.11 Java 1.6.0 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Brighthouse 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It says "Your test worked!" 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. NO 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem that started when I downloaded he lastest version after moving to a computer with VISTA. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? No brick, have turbo charged connection. I can search for files just fine, when I try to download one, the status says 'connecting', then eventually 'need more sources'. This happens for files that show over 100 sources. My connection is a 'Turbo Charged Connection'. The first day I had LimeWire on the Vista computer, it was an older version, which worked fine. I paid to upgrade to the latest version and that is when this issue began. Is this an issue with the lastest verison? If so, should I get a previous version? |

![]() Hi Matt Stevenson, Sounds like your setup is good, but your running into the problem of fake files that are on the network. Try d/loading a file from here: http://www.magnetmix.com/audio2.shtml. These are guaranteed to be good. If they go to need more sources, right click the file and click find more sources. The file should start d/loading shortly. This will show that your connection is good and you can d/load files. More info on fake files: Recognising Fake files, also this post by LOTR: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=63993. Check files with Bitzi Web Lookup before downloading. It'll help you sort out if it's a good file or not. While on the Bitzi site, search for the file there and use the magnet link to launch the file in limewire. Then search for it again in LW. Sometimes that'll help you find the good files. Also preview the file when it gets to 10% to check that it's what the title says. See this thread for tips on searching and downloading files. How to find music(same principles apply to movies).
