I connect fine usually.. sometimes it stays at 2 bars... but the times it works i do my search start my download... then it Actually connects to someone.. but the downloads stay at 0kb/s(i actually got 1 song to 1% before it kicked out on me)... then after a short while Limewire will go back to 1 bar and my Download will go to Need more sources or waiting on busy hosts. I should mention that the problem started today when i got new internet.. had dialup now i use broadband... attempted a download from that site that gets tossed around here that puts the downloads right into Limewire... same deal.... i turned off all firewalls (yet oddly it still says im behind one) Windows XP 512 Ram 512/256 Connection PC cillin Antivirus/firewall i did that bitzi thing.. not sure what i was looking at but there was stuff on it and there were posts so im assuming that its real |
Disable ultrapeer capabilities (tools > options > speed). Disable iTunes sharing. Don't download too many files at once, keep it to just a couple, & don't resume many incomplete files at once. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. i've used Limewire for years.. only used Dialup untill now tho... and i had no problems.. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes i have a brick wall...even tho i turned my Firewall off... |
Make sure that the XP firewall's off & that you've configured the PC-cillin firewall to allow LW. Your router has a firewall;) Enable UPnP within the router & then choose the UPnP option within LW's tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Wait a little while to see if the brick wall disappears. If enabling UPnP doesn't help, try port forwarding. Here are the instructions for your router. http://www.portforward.com/english/r...4/Limewire.htm Don't forget the step of setting up a static IP (there's a link within those instructions). Remember that LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box, port forwarded within the router all have to be the same number:) |
Im not sure how to enable UPnP on my router... |
Log into the router & check under Tools. I don't have a D-Link...that's just some info I found on Google. Otherwise, check the router's manual. |
