Limewire Refusing to Download!!!! Please help!

Hey, I've been using Limewire for years now, and have never had a problem, despite this being my first post.

Just recently I moved my computer into another room in the house, and ever since I have dont this, Limewire won't download. The Internet is working fine, I have a perfectly good connection, it's fast, and I can download anything of anywhere else. But on limewire, it just won't download. It says I have a turbo charged connection, but when I type in to search for things, the results are very small, nowhere near the amount that would normally show up, and none of them will download. It just measures ALL of them as taking 2 days to download, and it will continue like this for about 10 seconds before just stopping entirely.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

Hi Jake.
Just try this.

It could be the Licence warning thing.
Just have a look,
Go, Tools/Options/Searching/Basic, it says, "Show Licence Warning"
Un tick the box if you dont want to filter out copyright Files.

This option is enabled at setup, The choice is your decision.
Do a test to see if search resolts improve.
You can reverse this change at any time.
Peace.

Hi Jake.
Lets have a closer look, sorry for late reply.

System details - help us to help you Please.
Cut n paste these Questions, put your answers in bold text Thank You.

Recently there's been a problem with people not providing enough details about their setup - despite being asked again & again.
So let's make it easy for everyone...the details that we need if we're going to be able to help with complex problems are:

1. what OS version? (eg: Windows 98, XP,OSX, Vista)
2. What firewalls you have ?
3. How much ram ?
4. Hard Disk space available ?
5. Connection type (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) ?
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers ?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.) ?
8. What version,LimeWire & Java,Go to L/W's Help/About L/W, THIS show both LW & Java version.?
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider) ?
10. Do this test click here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ should say 'Your test worked!. What happens ?
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.?
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface ?
14. Have you given full permisions for LimeWire to pass through your Firewall ?
15. XP users, Please state XP firewall on or off.?

These are all contained within the sticky Connection problems? Check here first!
but possibly some people are getting a bit confused or lost when we direct them to this sticky & ask them to provide their details.

This information can be vital
For instance, some ISPs are known for blocking p2p/throttling bandwidth,
some connection devices are known for being unreliable in certain situations.

So please, help us to help you & provide as much info as you can.
If you're new to LW or new to computers & aren't sure how to answer some questions,
or don't know what an ISP or router is - just say so. Nobody's going to yell at you:wink:
Even if you can't answer all the questions in one go...don't worry. Do the best you can & we'll take it from there.

jake Hi.
java could do with updating, do that first, TalkTalk may be an issue.

Now! Go to,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Now! Use this Link to get JRE 6 u1 Use the off line installer NOT the (recommended) one,
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.
Shout if that dont fix things.

Thanks for helping me out like this, really appreciate it. I did what you said, and it's still having problems. Songs are measures to taking hours and hours to download, and there's no SET time for it to download like there used to be, it just keeps jumping up and down all the time, and then disconnecting, and then connecting again.

Dunno if you have any more ideas? :S

Thanks again

Hi Jake/Mick,

I am on talktalk and have exactly the same problem. Is there nothing else I can do apart form find another ISP. Sometimes it will let me download one file but after that all my prospective downloads go 1kbs, waiting sources then need more sources. It is exactly the same when someone is trying to upload from me

Regards

Punk

Hi jake.
Because you have moved your computer Im hoping your router just needs reconfiguring, this link will open on the page of your router setup
even if the settings look OK re apply them all, Dont forget to create a static IP
& apply, before portforwarding. For ports, use numbers above 45000 to 64000
http://portforward.com/english/route...-5590index.htm

Also, Delete & re apply L/W permissions in Zonealarm FW.

P.S.. Was this problem happening Before you moved computer ?

Have You been using L/W or another P2P program allot lately ?

Answer Qs and tell us how you get on.
Peace.
