No results searching in languages other than english
 

Hi everyone!

Problem no 1:

I can type in greek but no search results are returned. I can get results only in English.

I have the latest of java and LW installed.

I have switched to greek interface and restarted... nothing

I had been using LW version 4.9 till yesterday. Although I had the english language selected I could search even in chinese (to be honest never tried chinese! :laugh_2: )

Any ideas????

Problem no 2:

I need 200,000 $ to buy an apartment and the phone number of miss greece 2007

Did searching in greek work ok in version 4.9 or didn't you try?

LW will generally search & find the local dialect, so if you are in a majority english speaking area it will search mostly in that area.

Try searching a reknown greek spoken file such as a song or ..., after that you can browse or attempt to browse that host. This will help you to connect to more greek speaking people. Then try your searches again.

I'm in Greece.... 30 C here ... hot .... (i think this hasn't affect LW)

Anyway... searching in greek in v 4.9 worked fine...

I 've already tried that one LOR ... searching in greek for greek songs, songs that should be almost in every pc here in Greece...nothing... nothing...

P.S. No change in the "phone number" situation :bangh: . ...maybe the runner-up of the contest would be easier to reach...

The problem might be Java related. Go to add/remove control panel & remove all versions of java including jre & jse. Then reinstall Java using only the 'Offline' installer: Download Java software from Sun Microsystems which I think is 2nd on the list. ;) Of course do this whilst LW is closed.

I have tested a lot of combinations of java- limewire versions. I 've even reinstall windows with all the greek codepages. I updated them. I even tried to install the old version of limewire that had been working fine but in that case i can't even connect.

is it time to try another p2p soft?


P.S. It was much easier to find the number of miss Greece... we're getting married soon...:xirokrotima:

In fact I'm not sure that this is a problem:
* it's possible that the (rare) Greek users are difficult to locate, and even in this case, that they currently don't use Greek as their prefered locale (they may use Limewire using the english interface: as there's no Greek translation available for now this will explain that fact; the only way to improve the situation for Greek users is to help LimeWire providing a Greek translation, because LimeWire has nobody knowing that language)
* do you see connections from Greek users (look at their domain name, you may see Greek ISP's) in the connection panes? if so, the preferencing does work; but connection preferencing only works if the Greek locale is selected in the limeWire interface, so there must be one. Otherwise the rare greek users are "lost" within an ocean of English-speaking users that share mostly English-written files.
* Even if Greek users are present, it's also possible that they don't share enough Greek files, but share more common files whose title is written in the Latin alphabet

Right now I'm using LW 4.13.6 beta and it has a greek translation. Every version had one.

The weird thing is that I had be using for 2 years LW 4.8 - 4.9 and I had no problem searching in greek even when using the english interface.

You 've right though that no connection are made from/to greek ISP's
