Default Slow Download speeds

I wonder if anyone could help. I have recently reinstalled LW after a break of 2 years and cannot get my download speeds up.

Windows firewall is off but running McAfee Security Centre. Limewire has full access privileges (people can and are uploading from me)

3. How much ram ?
1gb RAM

4. Hard Disk space available ?
130gb

5. Connection type (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) ?
Broadband

6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers ?
BT Voyager 105 ADSL modem (no router)

7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.) ?
Home

8. What version,LimeWire & Java,Go to L/W's Help/About L/W, THIS show both LW & Java version.?
Limewire 4.12.11 Pro
Java 1.5.0_11 (old one deleted and new reinstalled )

9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider) ?
AOL

10. Do this test click here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ should say 'Your test worked!. What happens ?
Your Test Worked

11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
Not as far as I know

12. Is this your 1st try at LW, or is this a new problem with an experienced user.?
Had LW 3 years ago on same connection different computer at speeds of 250+ (getting 64 at the mo but can’t find all the tweak info that I used back then)

13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface ?
Brick wall is showing. Windows firewall is off but running McAfee Security Centre.
I do have a turbo charged connection all blue bars showing

14. Have you given full permisions for LimeWire to pass through your Firewall ?
Limewire has full access privileges (people can and are uploading from me)

15. XP users, Please state XP firewall on or off.?
Windows firewall is off

Other info:-
Phillips Freevents MT1700 Computer
Pentium D 820 (I think dual core 2.80 Ghz)

I have just downloaded a file and checked the timings etc file was 40.5MB in 1.15 sec at 554KB/sec (don't know if this helps at all, sorry)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Tracie.

Most people would die for that speed, I cant see what your problem is
Everything looks good apart from your ISP, AOL who do shape P2P traffic
Don't look like it in your case, thats good speed for 8meg connection.
Peace.

Thanks for that Mick.

Sorry but I didn't make myself clear that the 554KB/s was directly from the internet (a scrapbook papers file from the states and not LW) thats why I was thinking that the download speed on LW was slow at 64KB/s

Any idea's

Speed will also depend on who your connected too and their bandwidth, how many hosts, a few things.
I would give AOL a ring & ask them if they know why limewire is downloading so
slow, as you have paid good money for speed.
Peace.
