Able to DL files but says no connection & can't search please help Hi, long time user of LW & have always had one prob or another come up & eventualy can correct it but I've had this ongoing prob for the last wk or so & would really appreciate some help on this matter. Ughh, where to begin, ok I recently had to connect a router which was it's own set of unique probs but finaly got the whole firewall & port forwarding things figured out ( I believe) so now at least I was able to establish a connection with limewire where before I couldnt even do that. So after getting the router config setup & after days & hours of relentles persistance & effort I finaly saw the most beautiful thing, my connection to limewire was all bars full & green, OMG I thought finaly, my eyes almost swelled with tears of joy. So I happily searched a bunch of files & began to DL them, some are downloading as I type this but after having to reset my PC & restarting LW the downloads started downloading automaticaly right where they left off as they're supposed to but the connection bar shows no connection & when I try to search for files it constantly states your search may not return any results as LW is currently trying to connect. Even while I can see there must be a connection as I mentioned the files are still downloading atm so can anyone please shed some light on this, any ideas? Help on this would be greatly appreciated. the router is Linksys model# BEFSR41 version 4.0 my PC is Dell XPS 400 with 1 GB ram & dual 250 GB hardrives with windows XP home edition OS & I did use the test link wich said it worked, Broadband LW version 4.12.11 & Java 1.5.0_11 & yes brick wall in front of blue world thanks. Maybe the port forward has gone haywire.... Just check that the numbers you entered into the manual port forward box and the listening port box are exactly the same and also the number you choose when you port forwarded... Also here are the instructions for your router and limewire you can always just double check that all has been configured properly... Port Forwarding for the Linksys BEFSR41 Ver 3 (this is for v3,v4 and v5)

(sigh) Thanks for the reply but yeah everything matches exactly...I have no idea...I've been wondering if maybe it's not something to do with Limewire itself...I've done chat sessions with like 10 reps for linkseys & they've also walked me through the process. The very first rep had me set the specs up exactly as the website you gave me suggests & that first time it worked & it worked greeeat, just fine untill...I had to restart my pc & a couple days later when I got back home, started up my PC again & loaded up LW NO connection, so several chat sessions later no one could help me & finaly one rep suggested to do port trigering instead which I did & whadaya know that also worked but now after restarting my PC again same damn thing no connection to LW & now it wont even resume any of my downloads & when it was it was 1 Kb/sec at best. I have literaly devoted at least an entires day worth of my time to this thing in the last 2 weeks or so, I have literlay spent at least 24 hours of my life in front of this PC trying like crazy to do anything & everything I can think of & I just want to be able to use LW for the love of God...just want my limewire back...please any other thoughts...I NEED MY FIX!!! Ok seriously I just really want to be able to use LW again so any other ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Oh & I do believe I have the TCP/IP settings correct for the static IP so I don't think that's it... |

Hmmm...Who is your ISP and what security are you running on your comp ?? Here are some fixes that may help (well I hope they do) Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE offline version....(4th one down) Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5 Then uninstall Limewire using the uninstaller which is found in start > all programs > limewire...then re-install it using the offline installer... LimeWire: The Official Site for the Fastest File Sharing Program on the Planet Try deleting your preference folder... Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should If none of that worked try this... Right-click the Limewire icon and going to properties and change compatability setting to Windows 2000. (but only if you're using Windows 2000 or later.) Somebody reported changing to Windows NT compatibility fixed their problem despite not using that operating system version. Right-click on the Limewire icon on the desktop and click on Run as. Then it should come up showing the current user and then switch it over to Administrator. (but 'only' if you're the admin of your comp.!)
