Can't Get Movies To Download All Of A Sudden Can't seem to get movies to download. Haven't changed anything at all. The latest movies come up with thousands of downloads on the search. I have tried different types, different speeds, etc. All I get is CONNECTING for quite a long time (10 minutes or longer), then Need More Sources. I click on Get Sources and it goes back to CONNECTING for a long time, then finally Awaiting Sources, and I never get the download. Worked great for months and months, now I can't seem to get any movie down. Have not tried music, but never have dowloaded music, always movies. Anyone have any ideas?? By the way, HI to all you Forum participants. Tim |

You could be seeing fake files. These will sit connecting for ages & then get stuck needing more sources forever. They won't ever download. Always check a movie before download with Bitzi. If other users have rated the file, you'll get an idea of it's content & quality. Files with heaps of sources (in the # column) but no Bitzi rating are usually fake. Check these threads for more info & tips. Fake files showing up in search results How to find music (tips for video as well) |

Ok, but I'm using downloads from same sources I have always used, and I always choose from those with 10 sources or less to avoid the fake files. Cam Files, Xvid, DVDRips, nothing downloads. It just stopped downloading all of a sudden. I do use Bitzi also, but most of the time it doesn't find any ratings. I thought maybe a setting somehow got changed through a Windows or Direct X update or something, but all settings look ok too. Strange huh. I will keep trying. Tim |

Try downloading some music files. Search for old songs (2 years plus) & try to download files with 10 sources or less, or even those with a single modem source. What happens? If the files download, then I'd say you've just been really unlucky with the movies you're trying to get & are seeing fake files. If the files don't download (do the connecting/need sources thing) then try this: Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used much older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location). Fixes for LimeWire This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If that doesn't help, you could try the Beta version (has torrent support). The latest Beta's 4.13.4 & you can download it from the normal LW download page, or from your personal download link if you have Pro. |

Ok Birdy, thanks. Old music downloads just fine. Will try deleting the preferences file and let you know. I am getting a movie to come down now, but not a newer release. It seems the newer releases (movies like *****, *****, *****, etc. won't download. Will let you know what happens when I delete the preferences file (probably tomorrow). Thanks again. That sounds about right...newer releases (especially anything still in the cinema) are more likely to bring up fake files in a search http://www.gnutellaforums.com/lounge...adefender.html If you can download old music & movies without a problem then I'd say there's nothing wrong with your LW...fakes are all across the network now & becoming more & more common. Think about trying the Beta version. I'm not a big movie downloader but those who are swear by torrents! |

Here's the link to Limewire beta: Lime Wire » Download LimeWire Beta BitTorrent - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (This has some information on torrent files...I've downloaded many torrent files successfully. You can usually leave comments on files at torrent websites, which will help you avoid fake files). Hope this helps Dan |
