Download @ 1kbps only Hi guys, new to the forum, but old to limewire! Ive been using limewire for a while now But recently i have had great trouble downloading any type of file faster than 1kbps:bangh: Ill find hundreds of files in the initial search, select what i want to download, itll connect to 8 hosts, but only download the file at 1kbps (did i mention that already!!) Its not my wireless network because im always connected @ 54Mbps and has been workin a treat since i set up the home network late last year. Im stumped, any advice or direction would be much appreciated Sorry if this has already been posted, i kinda just jumped in feet first! Cheers in advanced |

Try d/ling a file from this site and see what kind of speeds you get. Just click on a link and it'll open in LW: + MagnetMix.com +: The Source for Good Content. How's your connection to the network? Do you have all blue bars in the lower left corner? |
:super::super::super:I LOVE YOU!!!:super::super::super: i just downloaded a track from that site, it peaked at 115kbps now all my tracks are downloadin at this speed! Just needed a kick in the **** |
Having a similar problem, except that some of my downloads are really fast and some of them won't move past 1kps. There is the brick wall, indicating a firewall, but I don't actually have one. I checked my security center and made sure it was off (it was) Any suggestions? Connectivity is "extremely strong" but that's apparently not doing much good Also just tried the link posted above. Downloaded the song, peaked at 154 kps...download speed for songs in lw still sucks 1. OS version? Windows XP 2. What firewalls you have? CA Security center, all firewalls turned off 3. How much ram? 1.25gb RAM 4. Hard Disk space available? 36GB 5. Connection type? cable 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Motorola somethin....I think. 7. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I've used Limewire a while. It's a new problem, and persisted past upgrade to pro 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes, but no firewall is on. Turned all of them off and restarted, still there. 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? Not a clue |
Hi Pax, Sounds like your connection is fine. LW has the ability to push through some firewalls. Your Motorola probably has a nat firewall in it. You can configure it for LW, instructions at this site: PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall, be sure to set up a static ip. This may help your speeds. Your slow d/load speeds could be caused by other things. Is it slow only during certain times of the day? Possibly your isp is traffic shaping you at peak usage times. Could also be caused by the hosts your d/loading from. If they have a poor connection or a lot of people are uploading from them, they might not have much bandwidth to go around. People are constantly logging on and off the network and d/load speeds tend to fluctuate. You could try some of the fixes in this thread: Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should! |
I did start trying the port forwarding thingie last night, but got stuck because my ip address wouldn't bring anything up in an IE window. I got the address from cmd ipconfig, and it wouldn't open my router in the browser. I'll try the other fixes and see if those work |
Use the ip address that's in the guide, it's your routers ip, not your computers ip. Can you post which model motorola router you have? |
1. OS version? MAC OS 10.5.7 2. What firewalls you have? None 3. How much ram?2gb ram 4. Hard Disk space available? 151gb 5. Connection type? adsl wireless 6. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? tmnet streamyx 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: 'Your test worked!'. 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? PS3 network cable connected into router 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.Benn using limewire for ages, recent problem 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? NO 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled, not sure sorry Please help used to get 90kbps per download now its either 0 or 1... something is definitely wrong... thanks in advance |
Streamyx are known for throttling p2p. Check out the threads below. Why Tmnet throttle P2P Streamyx slow? Is there any alternative broadband in Malaysia? - Kongtechnology.com Why Torrents in Streamyx is SLOW - GeminiGeek’s Online Journal http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...lly-works.html LW 5 won't show you the firewall icon - instead you need to click on LW's tools > advanced tools & there you'll see whether you're behind a firewall. In LW's options (Command (Apple key) & Comma keys ⌘ ,) try changing port numbers. Once in Options > advanced > super really advanced > firewall. Change LW's listening port to 65000 (or something in the range of 49152 - 65535) > ok. On that same firewall page, you'll see whether you have port forwarding or UPnP selected. |
