Extremely Slow Downloads Hi, I just downloaded Limewire Pro after switching my broadband ISP to 'BT Option 3' and I'm getting max speeds of 15KB/s. It's extremely frustrating because i used to get speeds of 160KB/s + whilst with Orange broadband. Although I did get 22KB/s when downloading a video clip from magnetmix.com. My specs- 1. OS version? Windows XP SP2 2. What firewalls you have? McAffee 3. How much ram? 512MB 4. Hard Disk space available? 100GB 5. Connection type? BT Option 3 Broadband 8MB 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? BT Home Hub 7. Where are you trying to connect from? Home network 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? 4.12.11 Pro 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)?BT 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: 'Your test worked!'. It worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? NO 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.Benn using limewire for ages, recent problem 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? YES 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled, I'm not port forwarding as far as i know Any and all help appreciated. |
Firstly I will give you this link as BT are known for shaping your connection at peak times... ::. Kitz - ISP Caps, FUPs and Prices .:: Also here are your instructions for Port Forwarding, this should get rid of the brick wall you are seeing... Port Forwarding for the BT Home Hub |
I'm port forwarding now and the wall is gone. But I've still tried downloading at non-peak times and my max speed is 16KB/s.... :( Thanks for trying, but any more ideas. |
Did you ring BT and find out exactly what their peak hours are ?? |
