Default Absolutely the worse

Hi

I am not saying this in nasty way but limewire has to be the most useless p2p I have ever come across.

Whatever I search for I get rows and rows of "need more sources" "awaiting sources" everytime.

Why the hell do you get results of a source that is inaccesible.

I have taken to using Ares Light recently and have absolutely brilliant results.

I keep getting asked to upgrade to Lime wire Pro, what a hope

Jim

Well Jim Bob Old Boy

You are perfectly entitled to your own opinions and to take whatever measures suits you best.

The simple fact is that it really is not possible to create a software program that will work with all computers with different operating systems, manufactured by different companies (and some talented individuals) throughout the world and all with individually unique configurations. Even though the LW Org. tries, I mean not even the great Microsoft can achieve that.

However, if ever you are willing to try LW again you can always come back here and share your experiences with us. But remember to note your computer specs in your post when you return.

HI

All I am saying is that it just does not work. I have often started a download and half way through it gives "need more sources" and thats the last I ever see of the download. More often than not I dont get that far.

I appreciate what u said regarding it not working with all systems so why charge for an apparent "Pro" version that still gives the same results.?

As for specs I built the PC myself

Windows XP Pro
Athlon 3800 64 bit Processor
Asus M2N SLI Deluxe Motherboard
2 Gig Geil Dual Channel Ram
3 160 Gig Western Digital Sata Hard drives in Raid 0
Nvidia 6800 GT Graphics Card
Asus DVD Re-Writer

8 meg Virgin Media Broadband

I think its up for the job.

Anyway as I said I didnt post in a nasty way its just annoying when I get pages of results and no download.

Hi Jim Bob

Just seen your post, I must say that you have built yourself a very tasty PC (I wish I had one like that).

Now something that just jumped out at me, you use Virgin broadband. Well, so did I until they started to throttle my P2P Internet communication, i.e. bandwidth shaping whereby P2P access is heavily restricted.

As a man that can research into and make his own PC (you have certainly picked some very good parts), did it occur to you to research into your broadband connection because this could be your problem and not the software that you blame.

When I was with Virgin I found that one weekend I could download without any problems and the next I could not download anything. I later found out that Virgin had introduced bandwidth shaping without any public announcement or acknowledgement.

Currently I use Bulldog for my broadband connection, they only partially throttle P2P connections (since they were taken over by Pipex) but I can still get the downloads I am after.

Hi There

Aye its a good PC I run my own counter strike clan and server. I built something tasty to get the edge in the competitons, thank you for your kind remarks.

I wont be able to change from virgin ne way for about 6 months as I have signed a contract with them.

I said arles wasnt a problem but it disconnects my broadband all the time so I dont use it ne more.

I use Usenext as my primary download source but used to find limewire a useful extra to have about. I have a friend who has another broadband client, I will se what resuts he gets with limewire

Cheers for the replies

Jim
