Default Every file i try to download bomb's out and reports back saying its currupt

I am running the following
  • XP Pro
  • The latest copy of LW 4.13.8 (and have had the same problem with other versions)
  • Java 1.6.0_01
  • Netgear DG834GT Router
Now, i keep experiancing the same thing with every download which is the following: -

Search for what you want, start to download it starts of fine 2,3,4% and so on then the % goes down then up and then eventually you get a report say file currupt do you wish to continue?

If you say yes and then playback sure enought the file hops skips and jumps etc ie currupt.

Can sombody please help?????

Try the suggestions in this thread to block hosts that are known to spam the network: No search results-(How to filter bad ip's)

Also see: what does it mean if the file is corrupted?

This surly has to be down to somthing clashing or conflicting whit LW???? as i am getting the same message about the file being currupt with every attempted download.

There must me some explanation to this problem

Thanks PM70511

It could be an over ambitious utility such as AV or anti-spyware, etc.

It may also be due to a firewall issue. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...1&d=1162908502

Sure ... test your line to see how much packet loss there is. It may be at your end (router misbehaving), else a line issue. Else deliberate ISP intervention, since many don't like p2p use because it uses up so much of their bandwidth.

As you said, it happens regardless of computer or version of LW at your end. So the problem sounds as though it's happenning before it actually reaches your network ... somewhere between your router & ISP by the sounds of it.

Find TalkTalk listed here ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire

Quote: Packet loss occurs when one or more packets of data travelling across a network fail to reach their destination. Packet loss can be caused by many conditions, some common ones including:

* Signal degradation over the network medium
* Oversaturated network links
* Corrupted packets rejected in-transit by intermediary nodes or the destination node
* Faulty networking hardware

Lost (or 'dropped') packets can result in highly noticeable performance issues

You can contact your ISP and tell them you're suffering from packet loss. While most residential ISPs don't guarantee uptime, speed or ping times, they usually do guarantee against packet loss. Before contacting your ISP, do a traceroute to Linden Lab. In Windows:

* Go to Start, Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt
* Type the following command:
tracert (you will need to ask our ISP what address to add here) > traceroute.txt
* After a few seconds, the prompt will come back up.
* Type the following command:
type traceroute.txt
* The problem point will either have very high numbers or astrices next to it. Since its a text file, you can also ISP this evidence to your ISP.

Best advice is to ask your ISP about doing this .. ask them for an address to apply to the traceroute so they can know where the problem is. If possible borrow a router/modem & see if you have same problem (you will need the drivers for it though.)

(BTW here is an example of one i did some time ago: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/lounge...a-servers.html)
