Every file i try to download bomb's out and reports back saying its currupt

I am running the following

XP Pro
The latest copy of LW 4.13.8 (and have had the same problem with other versions)
Java 1.6.0_01
Netgear DG834GT Router

Now, i keep experiancing the same thing with every download which is the following: -

Search for what you want, start to download it starts of fine 2,3,4% and so on then the % goes down then up and then eventually you get a report say file currupt do you wish to continue?

If you say yes and then playback sure enought the file hops skips and jumps etc ie currupt.

Can sombody please help?????
