downloading and connection problems? Try this instead.
 

Download Ares and all your problems dissapear it has a better connection and more search results. I have Vista and Mcafee and Ares works perfectly. So stop trying to configure everything and download Ares right away you won't be disappointed!!!!!!!!!

I Was!! I thought it was a dead dog

I am using windows vista and i am having major problems with limewire.The version it says is installed is 4.8.1 w/java 1.5.0_02.I dont know how to uninstall the old version of limewire.Can anyone help?

Follow these instructions exactly.
So, you need to Go, Start/All Programs/LimeWire n Uninstall all L/W versions.
Do Not Uninstall From Change or Remove Programs.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW
Now Go to, Start/Search/click on all files n folders/more advanced options/
& make sure, case sensitive, is not ticked. (all other boxes should be ticked)

Now!!, Put limewire in box, (all or part of file name) & click search.
Delete everything found, including Prefetch folder, (I mean everything)
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.
Now! Go to,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Use this Blue Link to get "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 12" Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one, 4th one down.
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5
When Download is completed.
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.

Now!! Use this link to download latest L/W version using the off line installer
