Moderators

There are senior members on the forums who serve as Moderators. These volunteers keep the board organized and moving.
Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity)
Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum.
Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules.
Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted.
Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender.
Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration.

The Rules

1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement.

2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures.

3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum.

4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks.

5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement.

6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem.

7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required.

8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning.

9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online.

10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents.

11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection.

12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban.

13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts.

14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam.

15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues.

Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis.

Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community.

Hi peckadj.
We really need the answers to
6.Modem what brand name & model numbers ?
7.Router brand name & model numbers ?
Try this first.

Now! Go to, START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java. Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Use this Blue Link to get "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 12" Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one, 4th one down.
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5
When Download is completed. Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps & reinstall java.

If Limewire is still not working after this.
Please try this (I know you think its not this, But try)

How to use Manual Port forward

Universal Plug and Play may not be working properly Due to this update. "Security Update for Windows XP (KB931261)"
Removing this update is not Recommended & could make your computer vulnerable to attack.
For more info on this update, click on this blue link.
Microsoft Security Bulletin MS07-019: Vulnerability in Universal Plug and Play Could Allow Remote Code Execution (931261)

If this update is installed on your computer & UPnP is in use by Limewire,
Try switching to Manual Port forward using port numbers between 45000 To 65000
Both Manual Port forward No, & listening port should be set at the same number
In LimeWire, GO to Tools/Options/Advanced/Firewall Config & use Manual Port forward.

If you are using a router, or modem/router to connect, that will also need configuring.
Find your router listed here, Use this blue link. & dont forget to create a static IP first, & click apply after changing each setting.
PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall
Your Servant,
Peace.

(2) "i have never used a modem or a router, thats why answer was/is no".
Then how dose your computer connect to the internet ?

(3) UPnP used with XP has also been causing issues for many.
Peace

Yes my friend JRE 1.6.0.0 is also fine for me (I use it with XP) If you are good at navigating, Look under archive at java for JRE1.6.0.0.
The only reason I'm not pointing to JRE1.6.0.0. is, every time I make a link to it, when people try to use that link, it directs them to a sign in page at java & I cant fix that.
Please be my guest & test drive the JRE1.6.0.u2. The issue may be fixed now
we look faward to your feed back. (I did'nt know it was released yet) I will check it later.
Now you said, "it might be what you call Wired Ethernet"
Right!! apartment connection, So the block manager who ever you all connect through, may have changed something, fitted new hardware ask him/her, if the java reinstall fails to fix things.
Peace.

i switched to lw pro yesterday night but pro wont load with 1.6.0.0.
it loads with 1.6.0.2 but same problem as before.
i even reinstalled pro

i will try with lw free 4.12.15 and 1.6.0.0 later but i didn't expect any trouble at all with 1.6.0.0.
i did manage to dl 1 file at a fast speed (******* "*******") but something have change with lw since last time i used it (june).
after that i tried to dl ******* ****** ***** and ********** ******** just to test everything and the problem is back.
i'am not sure anymore if it was a problem with lw pro and 1.6.0.1 cos i tested these two songs with pro and u1 as well...

GO to, Tools/Options/Advanced/Firewall Config & use Manual Port forward.

well first of all you can tell me if i have to restat lw after i made that change, right now nothing makes sence!
it looks like i dl with any setting but i wanna know for sure

i try to dl 15 files now, ********************** and *************** and no one works (ok, i can understand that RM are fake).
then i make a search for **** and and randomly i just pick one of the hits, its ****** ****** and the dl starts right away...!
the same thing happend with a ** song

so the problem must be that 70% of the hits are fake songs and when did this happen cos this is very new to me. i have never failed to dl any song with at least 3 sources before.

Hi peckadj.
You must stop using copyright protected file names in open forum or you may
be banned from posting by a mod.
Let me just say, if you were trying to D/L 4 copies of the same file from me, you would be added to my IP banned list, Cos thats just inconsiderate of others.
You can make 10 copies from 1 file in seconds, using your own computer, so
dont do this.
Also you say you are experienced, so why are you trying to D/L files with 200 hosts, An experienced user knows any # over 50 is almost surely fakes.

USE BITZI LOOKUP
when you see a file in search eg.. avi, mpg, mpeg you want
Right click/advanced/look up file with BITZI, if its not reported on leave it, till it is,
Now music, is not so easy,
The Newer they are, the more careful you must be.
The Spam company's are putting swarms of fakes on the network,
Take note of size, Songs less than 2000kb with 128kb bit rate, must be less than two minuets.
THINK!!, how long is the song I'm looking for ?
so what size SHOULD it be,
If it dos'nt have a bitrate! LEAVE it,
Scan every File before OPENING them
Don't D/L exe, rar, zip,or wma files. I am expert at using LimeWire & I don't touch them they are 99.9% viruses.
We only use these for testing anti virus programs.

P.S.. Try typing only the key words of the file, & leave out the small words (small words trigger SPAM results)

P.P.S.. Add these words to your word filter .exe .rar .zip .wma That will stop 50% of crap search results, Don't forget to apply.

To find your Word filter, Go Tools/Options/Filters/Keywords, now type word & click add, then apply.
Peace
