![]() Hello there everyone. My first time on here and I've ran out of ideas. Could someone pls help if possible. I have been using LW for years now (Basic). I've just moved back to Cold Lake Alberta, and since I got here I haven't been able to download anything, searches come up fine. And when selecting something to download it appears at the bottom of the screen where it always has. But if I'm lucky, it might hit D/L @ 1 kb/sec. I then got LW pro and although I now have pretty blue lines saying that I have a "Turbo charged" D/L speed. Nothing else has changed. Anyone have any answers or suggestions ? Sys Info Windows XP SP2, Dell 3600, 40 Gig HD, 256 mB Ram, 30 Gigs Free HD space, Java version 1.6.0.01, LW version 4.12.15, Windows firewall (turned off), Norton Antivirus, Personna cable internet, Modem is a Motorolla model #sb5101, connecting from my house. That's all the info I can help with. oh yes and on the off chance that maybe my ISP had restricted access to p2p programs. I asked around and everyone else has no problems using it. Thanks in advance Some additional info I just thought of is that I've followed the fix for the licensing but no change. Last edited by jsdennie; July 10th, 2007 at 11:58 PM. Reason: Additional info |

![]() Download a file from here (any one) & see what speeds you get. If the magnetmix file downloads slowly, it can point to an ISP shaping bandwidth. You could try deleting LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location). Fixes for LimeWire This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later. Just try changing your Java version, some people have had weird problems with that 1.6.0_01. Try this latest update instead (works fine with my LW), use the JRE offline installer & remove your current LW version(s) before you install this one. Java SE Downloads If that Java's no good, try this older update. Same deal with using the JRE & removing old Java versions before reinstalling. Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 Try changing ports. In LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049 (or something in the range of 49152 - 65535) > apply ok. |

![]() Well I thank you for the advice, unfortunetly I tried all of it as instructed, and I still can't download a thing. to be honest I'm so frustrated over spending money on pro for nothing and not getting a lick of support from the tech support. I'm about ready to turf the whole computer out the window. I also called my ISP and they said that I have no restriction on my account and there is no shaping going on. with all that said if there is any more suggetions, I would very willing to try them also. thanks again. |
