Default Problem downloading

I can do a search for a file and there be a match with 100+ for the one file and I still can not get the download to start. My firewall is off and nothing else is even running and I have Pro. What is going on with that. I can get the safe file using a different program and their search only come up with 3 people with that same exact file. What am I doing wrong?

There are fake files throughout the network. Typically, these have large numbers of sources (though sometimes they'll also show up with a few sources only) & will sit connecting for ages, then get stuck needing sources forever. What type of files are you searching for?? For music files, try using the 'All Types' search, search for album or artist rather than song title & go for a file with around 10 sources.

For video files, always check the file with Bitzi before download. If a file has heaps of sources but no Bitzi rating, chances are it's a fake.

Check out these threads for more info & tips, including how to use Bitzi

So, the question remains. How do you get around all the fake files, especially video, and get to the legit ones?

There's no simple answer for getting around the fake files on the network. With experience and the proper setup you can avoid most of them.

Try the tips in the links birdy left. Also try the suggestions in this thread for blocking bad ip's: Problems with the search

Use Bitzi Web Lookup before downloading. It'll help you sort out the good ones. While on the Bitzi site, search for the file there and use the magnet link to start the d/load in limewire. Then search for it again in LW to help find some sources for the file.
Also preview the file when it gets to 10-15% to check that it's what the title says and not mislabeled porn.
