plingster is flying high
Default Hi everybody (cannot download)

I'm new here and my name is plingster.
I'm Dutch so I will try to write this down in my best English.
I use Limewire and many times when I want to download a movie I get the message "cannot download". For the Dutch people it say's "kan niet downloaden".
I'm wondering what does it means because it stays there for ever until I delete it.
I can't find the answer anywhere so I'll try it this way.
Have a nice day everybody and hugs from me

Hi plingster,

I'm really sorry but I'm not sure of the error message you're getting (maybe the Dutch version gives different errors to the English version). Anyway, after you click to download, do files go into the dowload box below the list of search results?? If they don't (that is, if you click to download & files do nothing at all), in LW go tools > options > searching. Make sure there is no tick in the box next to 'show license warning'. If there's a tick, remove it & click Apply, then ok. Restart LimeWire & see if things work now.

Or, do files sit with 'connecting' for a very long time & then 'need more sources' but won't ever download?? If that's what's happening, it's probably fake files that you're seeing. Have a look at these 2 threads below for more ideas & tips.

Hi birdy
When I want to download a movie he puts it in the downloadbox below en then he says making connection and then he says cannot download and that stays that way for months.
Or somethimes he downloads it voor 10 % or so and than say cannot download.
I don't know what tot do anymore.
When I search for that movie he sometimes find it but somethimes he doesn't find it anymore.
I hope you can make sence out of my englisch and my problem.
But thanks for your help anyway.
Hugs from me

Some of the files that you're seeing could well be fakes. Read through those 2 links in my last post for more info

If a file's downloading, then suddenly stops...the person you're downloading from might have gone offline. In that case, you can right click on the search result for that file > search more > get more results. Or, start a new search...that can sometimes start a download up again.

Remember that what shows up in your search results depends who's online & what they're sharing at the time. If you're looking for rare files, it could be that nobody's sharing that file at the time of your search...so you won't find a result for that file.
You could try connecting to different ultrapeers, that can give you different search results. Click on the Connections tab. You'll see a list of ultrapeers that you're connected to. Right click on an ultrapeer > remove. Now a new ultrapeer will take the place of the one you've removed
