wondering why July 21st, 2007 02:12 AM

Could you try downloading one of these magnetmix files, so I can see if it is your ISP shaping your connection...
+ MagnetMix.com +: The Source for Good Content

Also I don't know if this will improve your speed issue but your Java is very outdated...
Uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....

Hey Doug, I'm with WW here, not sure it will make a lot of difference but I read your 3 previous threads that you started and I noticed in each one of them you had a different version of Java. Are you deleteing the ones that your not using?? Try deleteing all versions except the one your going to stick with. Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Hope this helps

yeah i tought it might have been java giving me problems so i tried a few different versions . i've got 1.5.0_11 now , and i have deleted all other versions .i can't get a connection to magnetmix . once i try to download it just says ' need more sources " until i give up . i am sharing 5002 files , will that slow my dowload speed . and i also have no uploads . is this a problem with my isp or lime wire . i did a speedtest and i'm capable of 256kb/s , why isn't anything uploading.

Doug, this is a shot in the dark but have you checked your upload settings? Go to Tools > Options > Uploads > Basic > set upload bandwith to about 90%. Then go to Slots and set Max upload slots to 5. Click apply and OK. Just a suggestion.

Sounds like it might very well be your ISP.

Hey Doug, I also went to Magnetmix and got the "need more sources". I'm a little  now because I have never experianced this from that site. I very rarely have any trouble dn/lding anything. Just FYI

doug54 July 22nd, 2007 08:57 PM

i applied the settings to uploads and no changes

Hi Doug54.
Look on the bottom or side of your modem/router for the make & model numbers
We need them to help.please

also try using limewire out of peak times, to see if it works better then & post results.

P.S Is this a typing error "broadband 1 gb/ sec connection"
Do you mean 1meg ?
Peace.

doug54 July 23rd, 2007 01:38 PM

sorry 1meg sounds about right .
there is alot of numbers and writing on the bottom of the modem.
i'm not sure if all the information is correct.
i think it says nextnet wireless inc.
part number 900-0052-7002
thank you for your help .
i'm sorry my info is so vague , as my internet connection has just changed a few months ago . and it was fine until a few weeks ago .
