Default Problems with Limewire...(slow downloads, need more sources)

I have three problems with my downloading from Limewire:First one is that approximately 60% of the files I select for downloading end up waiting long periods of time for more sources.I thought that the result listing was complete and the central computers didnt need any third party reinforcement. But I find this is not the case,am I right?Second one is that download speeds do not exceed 4Kbs and so it takes much time to complete the files. Why is this so?Third one is that I only get previews from audio files only, never video ones. What happens?Thank you for reading and for trying to help me.Best Regards

There are fake files throughout the network, these will sit connecting for ages & then eternally need more sources.
Check out the threads below for info & tips (make sure to use Bitzi to check files before download).

How to find music

You can only download as fast as your connection & the host(s) connection allows. What type of connection do you have (dialup, broadband etc)? Do a speed test & tell us the results. Who is your ISP?
Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test

Try downloading a file from this site & see what speed you get.

What player are you using? You might need codecs for the player. There's a list of codec packs here & also a link to VLC player. It's free, has codecs installed & plays most things

Default some answers.....hope they will be useful....

Dear Birdy:
About your questions I got the following answers:
My IPS is Netvision located in Petach Tikva,Israel
According to the measures I took from the sites you informed me were as follows:
The ISP has a download capacity of 1887Kb/s and an upload of 20 Kb/s and the maximum speed I got was 4Kb/s.
I have two players installed, one is Nero Show and the other is Windows Media Player and up to what I know they have all the codecs up to date.Could it be that the instalation of my Limewire could have missed something and that it is not complete?
Thank you very much for your replies.
Best Regards

Hi marpiw,

If those magnetmix files downloaded very slowly, it might point to your ISP managing bandwidth (throttling) for p2p. Have a look on the Netvision site, check out any terms & conditions. English is my only language, so I can't read any of the info
http://www.netvision.net.il/

Also use Google & search for Netvision throttling p2p, or Netvision p2p...see if you find any info to suggest that Netvision are throttling.

Did you ever try using VLC player to preview movies? Give it a try & see if it works Always check movies with Bitzi before download. If other users have rated the file, you'll get an idea of it's content & quality!

You can get it here: VLC media player. It's free and has the codecs built in, so it'll play most file types.

See it's list of features here: VLC - Features
