![]() I think it's time to stop blaming all these threads on fake files, etc. There is widespread download problems since the latest version. Router or not..top speed or not...many people just cant download..fake files or not. I have tried, for the sake of testing..tried to download every result on a page, over 100 in the one I did it for, and not a one would download. Whether 1 or 100 sources, nothing downloads. I never get uploads either. Its not my router, as it is setup properly, and it worked fine with it last version. I'm on a 3MB/sec DOWN 834 UP DSL line. I had no problems in the previous version, and now, like so many others I cant download at all. It takes no longer than 10 seconds for me to be fully connected (all green bars) and searches take little time. It's just downloading that becomes a problem. I try and try to download but nothing. On rare occassions I will get a connection to something (usually takes a few hours to find one ) but the speed is always 1KB/sec. |

![]() I have no problems with either ups or downs. You could post your system details. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-you-post.html. I have version 4.14.8 Pro. Java version 1.6.2. Could be something really simple |

![]() I have a similar problem, my Limewire was working fine last week, but since then I have been unable to download anything. I get the Connecting(x hosts tried...) then 'Need more sources' thing and I don't believe this thing about fake files either because I tried downloading the same file as I succesfully did last week and even that is doing the same now. It doesn't seem to matter if the file has only 1 or many hosts providing it, this happens all the same. I can upload files still, so people have been getting files from me, but I am unable to download ![]() ![]() ![]() Details on my system as requested/suggested on forum webpage ... 1. Windows XP Media Centre Edition 2. Windows Firewall 3. 2GB RAM 4. 279GB free space on Hard disk 5. 8MB Broadband 6. Wanadoo Livebox, Inventel USB 2.0 Wireless modem (802.11G) 7. Home 8. LimeWire 4.14.6, Java 1.6.0_02 9. Orange (formally Wanadoo) 10. I do get the message "Your test worked" 11. Internet connection is shared with 1 other PC (wired into box) and 1 laptop (wireless) 12. This is a new problem, I've used LimeWire for some time 13. Yes, there is a brick wall there now, didn't use to be last week! But as I said above, it doesn't disappear even when I turn off my Firewall :S 14. Not sure if this is relevant, I've always just used LimeWire and never set anything up, I think it must be working on UPnP. 15. I use AVG Free on this PC, but on laptop which has the same problem, I use F-Secure 16. I live in GB or UK - whatever you like to call it! (England) Hope you can help ... |

![]() Hey JKB, Looks like your ISP may be some of the problem. See Link below. fair use policy for Orange Broadband. Hope this Helps. ![]() Last edited by Remoc; August 25th, 2007 at 07:55 AM. Reason: Delete bad link |

![]() Thanks for the reply, I had looked at the fair usage policy before and I don't think that is the problem as they haven't notified me of anything and I don't use LimeWire heavily, just a little now and then really. The second link doesn't work, so not sure about that. I'm not sure that is it either though unless Orange have added some firewall software in last week or two. I don't understand it as there was never a firewall symbol before a couple of weeks ago when I used LimeWire and I can upload files to others still, so wouldn't a firewall stop that too? |

![]() Hey sorry, something happened to the link. See here. Port Forwarding for the Inventel Wanadoo Livebox. I think this might be where the firewall is coming from. With the combination of these problems you will probably not get good results. Your ISP WON'T notify you to let you know they are shaping. MOst of the time they won't even admit to doing it. Good Luck. |

![]() In addition to that last comment, it appears that having now sorted out the Firewall issue (thanks for that!) Orange Broadband is now repeating a trick it started a couple of weeks back also, which is probably their way of objecting to my use of P2P sites ... it simply disconnects me from the internet every few minutes while I'm connected to Limewire and downloading stuff, so I have to wait for it to reconnect to the net to restart the downloads! Quite silly really, quite frustrating also though! At least I can download files now even if it is stop-start. |
