hey guys, quick question

what does it mean when i'm downloading something and it says 'awaiting sources' and also 'need more sources' and 'waiting (eg) 259s (i know the s means seconds) for sources'

i thought you only needed one host to download something. could someone explain how downloading/uploading works? i.e. what the process is? thanx!!
