No Results Hi, I've been using LW with no problems but haven't used it for a few weeks. When I try now evrything is as before apart from the fact that I don't get any search results appearing - I still get the tab showing what I'm searching for, and this greys out as the search progresses (as before) but there's nothing in the Results Window ?!? I'm running XP and haven't changed anything on my PC - I'm sure it must be something simple but can't find my specific problem in any of the help sections, so thought I'd post first before starting to mess with things. Any advice welcome. Thanks. |

Thanks for your reply Remoc. I found the info re the licence warning and already had that unticked. My Connections Tab is showing ... but this is where my problem lies - there are no hosts showing to carry out your next suggested step. Even though LW seems to be going throught he motions ie the search box greying out, there are no results displayed and no hosts or anything in the main window - it's completely empty. It does everything it did a few weeks ago but just doesn't show anything. Anymore suggestions ? |

5 brown/red bars bottom left in ascending size; when i hover over i get the message "You are currently connecting to the network" - it's been like that for the last few hours ?!? I'm online (other sites) at the moment with no problems. It shows that LW has detected a firewall - could this be the problem - even thhough I've had it all the time and haven't changed any settings ? |

And there was me thinking it would be something simple. 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) XP 2. What firewalls you have? ZoneAlarm 3. How much ram? 2GB 4. Hard Disk space available? 38.2GB 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Broadband 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Sppedtouch 330 USB Modem 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. Limewire 4.12.6 Java 1.5.0_09 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? IDNET 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? My test worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes I've gone into my firewall settings and anything to do with Limewire and Java has been added to my safe programmes. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...1&d=1158099342 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? n/a 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall AVG 16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). England I hope this is enough info to help. Thank you. |

Make Sure that your not running Windows Firewall, with ZoneAlarm as they will conflict with each other. Best to turn Windows Firewall off and just use ZoneAlarm and make sure your giving Limewire full access through ZoneAlarm. Also your Java is a little outdated. Try This version Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version before installing this one. Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11. Everything else looks ok. Not sure about your ISP. Can't find out if they Block P2P. I don't find to much info on them. Hope this helps. |

Kissman I too live in the UK and, I must admit, that I have never heard of IDNET. That said, they must be bandwidth shaping (P2P throttling) your internet connection, what this does is severely restrict P2P traffic while allowing browser initiated traffic through unhindered. Now, in the UK ISPs do not advertise that they throttle P2P connections, not even when directly asked. But BT (which are the masters of P2P throttling) and Virgin are well known in the Internet community as bandwidth shapers. Anyway, I suggest that you phone your ISP and ask them if they are "Bandwidth Shaping" your Internet connection. Make sure that you speak to a technical person because chances are the help desk personnel will not even know what bandwidth shaping is. UK Bob |
