![]() 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) XP Pro, SP2 2. What firewalls you have? Windows only 3. How much ram? 2.0 gb 4. Hard Disk space available? 16.7 GB on the one LW is installed on 19.2 elsewhere 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Cable 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Modem: Webstar DCP2100 series. Router is belkin FSD7230-4 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. -- LW 4.14.8, Java 1.5.0_11 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? RCN 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? "Your Test worked" 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. I have another computer hardwired to my router 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I've been using LW for a while, this has only been occuring since I dl the new version. I have never had this issue in the past 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? No, which is odd because I do have a firewall active http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...1&d=1158099342 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall -- I am only running Windows firewall, no additional firewalls - I use online anti virus 16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). USA My issue is first off - LW doesn't recognize my firewall, so this may be the issue. Beyond that people seem to be able to upload from me, but when I try to download a song that has 101 people sharing the status bar says connecting for a minute or two, then starts counting through how many people it's tried to connect to and eventually says it needs more sources. I looked through the settings, but didn't see anything set up differently than how I've had it in the past. I clicked reset to defaults and restarted the program, went through all the prompts and tried again with the same results. I did have an issue in the past where like some others I've seen on the board I could only get 1 bar of connection, and when that happened I did add the required ports (both TCP and UDP) for GNUtella to my firewall. This issue has only been happening since I did the last update to LW. I've tried several different songs, but it all ends up doing the same thing. Please let me know if you have any suggestions what so ever! Thanks!!!! |

![]() Update: Not sure what happened - I didn't make any changes I swear...But I opened it up for the 10th time today, cancelled previous downloads and searched again and it worked and downloaded (Then again, it actually recognized my firewall this time) Still curious as to what could have caused it - Ideas??? |

![]() There have been alot of people with the same issue... It sounds like fake Ultrapeers, which in return will leed you to fake files and such.... This has helped a few... ![]() Try going to your Connections Tab in limewire, if it's not showing up go to Veiw > Show/Hide and make sure the connection tab has a tick next to it... Then click on the Hosts and remove them and let Limewire search for some more... (try to take note of the hosts IP numbers if the same ones keep re-appearing add them to your host filter...) ![]() Tools > Options > Filters and select the Host Filter and add these IP's into it and select apply... Another thing if you are using limewire 4.13 and later you can apply this hostile list... The TechNutopia Fullsize Hostiles List for BearShare and LimeWire Also do you use PeerGuardian at all.... If not install it and turn it on before you start limewire up... ![]() Peerguardian __(FREE)
