Question Dowload issues (16 hosts, 0KB/s)

Hi, This is my 1st post!

Limewire says I'm downloading from upto 16 hosts and yet is not downloading the file, speed says 0kb/s. I have tried a number of files and they all say the same. I'm new to Limewire so I must be doing something basic wrong - Can anyone help me

Has the speed been stuck at 0 KB/s right from the start, or has it just suddenly dropped off? I guess it's a torrent file (since you're downloading from more than 14 hosts)...try looking for the file on some different torrent sites & check whether there are any comments about the file.

Have you been able to download other files without a problem?

Try WW's advice in this thread.

Question Dowload issues (16 hosts, 0KB/s)

I recently formatted by C drive, due to loads of rubbish on it. I had already downloaded 59% of 1 1400MB file with no issues although a bit slow. When I have reinstalled Limewire it comes up with this problem. Its at 0kb/s from the start. I have also tried other files, some start to download BUT stop after a few seconds. I have used Limewire to search for the files and BTJunkie, both have the same problem. I have had no such problems downloading programme etc direct, i.e. Microsoft, Limwire itself etc etc

HELP!?

I am having a very similar issue. I have 3-4 files downloading (max downloads set) and they start off doing very well with from 1-8 sources each and up to 180 kb/s. Within a few minutes however my total DL speed begins to drop off gradually until all files are at 0 kb/s. At this point it is like something is frozen. I continue to see the # of sources changing and if max downloads arent filled then other files will connect to sources (although at 0 kb/s) but if I try to pause any of these files then it doesnt change to paused it just continues to say pausing... I also am unable to cancel any of these frozen downloads. I uninstalled limewire and reinstalled...everything worked well for a few days and now its happenning again.

help

Did you try these fixes as Birdy suggested...

Try going to your Connections Tab in limewire, if it's not showing up go to Veiw > Show/Hide and make sure the connection tab has a tick next to it...
Then click on the Hosts and remove them and let Limewire search for some more...
(try to take note of the hosts IP numbers if the same ones keep re-appearing add them to your host filter...)

Tools > Options > Filters and select the Host Filter and add these IP's into it and select apply...

Try installing PeerGuardian, it will help keep the fake hosts out...Remember to enable PG just before you start limewire up...
Phoenix Labs » PeerGuardian 2

If you're using Vista, there's this PG2 Beta available for Vista users.
PeerGuadian 2 for Windows Vista beta released - Phoenix Labs

PeerGuardian 2:Manual - Phoenix Labs Wiki

Another thing if you are using limewire 4.13 and later you can apply this hostile list...
