LW search stopped working

Search has stopped functioning on my LW. I can start the program, it connects "Turbo charged connection" I can see 5 hosts at any given time, so all seems well, but when I type in a title and hit "Search" nothing - literally nothing - happens.

This is frustrating since the problem just started one day about two weeks ago, before that it worked just fine. Nothing that I am aware of has changed with either my ISP, connection or other infrastructure to cause this.

System details - I'm running XP, Media Ctr Edition, SP2. 1GB of Ram, 63 GB of free disk space.

LW version is 4.14.10 Pro, Java 1.5.0_11

Firewall is - McAfee firewall running "Standard" level protection, LW and Java are on exceptions list and granted full access. I have tried searching with all firewalls off, no difference.

I have tried connecting from two separate ISP's - Verizon Broadband T1, and Roadrunner Cable modem, no difference.

I have tried uninstalling and installing to no avail....any suggestions appreciated

Try these fixes....

Go to Tools > Options > Searching > Lisence Warning and make sure the box is not ticked and select apply...

If that does not help try going to your Connections Tab in limewire, if it's not showing up go to Veiw > Show/Hide and make sure the connection tab has a tick next to it...
Then click on the Hosts and remove them and let Limewire search for some more...
(try to take note of the hosts IP numbers if the same ones keep re-appearing add them to your host filter...) ;)

Tools > Options > Filters and select the Host Filter and add these IP's into it and select apply...

Try installing PeerGuardian, it will help keep the fake hosts out...Remember to enable PG just before you start limewire up...;)

Another thing if you are using limewire 4.13 and later you can apply this hostile list...

Nope!

Thanks for the suggestions. View License was un-checked and I deleted the hosts and re-tried (twice), still not searching.

One note / correction. When I try to perform a search I initially said it does "nothing" actually the screen / search window goes gray. Still, no results etc. Note that the software doesn't hang, it just doesn't work.

Are you fully connected to the network...
ie. Do you have all green or blue bars or are some red ??

Try deleting your preference folder/s...
...This will reset your configurations back to default and get rid of any corruption that may of happened...;)

Also try Peerguardian, it has fixed other users problems with searching issues...
