![]() Hey, I'm downloading a file on about 4000 mb right now, and my computer has been on all night - but now it's stopped at 63%. I can see it's uploading with about 42 KB/s, but the downloading has stopped, no matter how many hosts it finds. It's just 0 KB/sec all the time. Maybe an obvious question, but ain't so technical skilled, so would be nice with some advice or explanation ![]() Thanks. |

![]() Not an expert and following may be obvious...Get out of LWire or any other p2p app and try to download a large general file, maybe from your IExplorer or Mozilla. If it works and completes 100% the problem could easily be a particular kind of 'Traffic Shaping' on p2p from your Internet Service Provider. Further, under Tools/options at top of LW, make sure both your UP & DOWNload settings match your connection speeds. They are usually different, with UPload being slower. ISP's generally give you a considerably faster DOWNload connection because it is cheaper for them. Most either 'Traffic Shape' one or the other; only a few both. If you have same problem with non-p2p DOWNloading, you may have a tech problem with either your ISP or your own system. Are you sure the DOWNload that got to 63% is 4000MBytes, not 4000KBytes? Luck, caseybob |

![]() Hmm, yea the file is 4287 MB. By the way, when I adjust my settings I can't place both my upload and download settings right - it's like they don't fit each other. My downloadspeed is about 220 KB/s - KB yes, not kb, I've checked it all out ![]() ![]() |

![]() What I do in those situations: 1. Search for more hosts. If same then stop download. Then re-select from search results. This sometimes works. Also try right-clicking the search tab & choose advanced & select Get More Results. Downloads do sometimes stall. This has been a long term issue ever since I've used LW & mostly commonly happens with large files. Keep in mind hosts come & go offline all the time. So you may need to find fresh ones. Search results go stale after a while (many have gone offline or their upload slots have been taken) so should do a fresh search. 2. Check your Connections window. Make a note of your ultrapeers you are connected to. Then quit LW. Then restart some mins later. Try searching for hosts again for your file. If same problem of speed then check Connections window. Are any the same? If yes, select them & remove & get new ones. Keep in mind ultrapeers tend to change over time of a session, as some come & go ofline. There are some "dud" ones out there. So that's why getting rid of the bad ones will help if they are in fact bad ones. Some of them may get shaped or whatever, or be deliberate duds. I have same problem with speed settings. I set mine for T3 however. (I have similar speed but a slightly higher upload speed.) Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Performance & disable Ultrapeer capabilities. Also be sure you don't see the brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? (sample image) If you do let us know. ![]() Last edited by Lord of the Rings; October 8th, 2007 at 03:47 AM. |

![]() Hm I've tried most. I should probably mention that I'm downloading from a torrent. I've tried another program now for downloading it and it also stops at 63,4 %, so I guess I'll have to look for another torrent...? Thanks for the replys. |

![]() Your Welcome. Sorry I'm not experienced at Torrents. But from what I do know, people share as much as they have downloaded. So most likely many other people are also waiting to download the missing parts. The person who has the original may only occasionally come online & they might also be out of your direct search horizon. Also the zero speed is possibly also due to the other host using up most of their bandwidth with other users or even on another network. |

![]() Sounds fair... woop, i two minutes I was downloading again with about 100-200 KB /s, and it is now on 64% ![]() And if he comes online again I will only occasionally be able to download from him? ` Sorry if I challenge your torrent-knowledge too hard :P S.O.S. Torrent-experienced needed. |
