Default downloading issues

i know people have complained before about the weird message i still get it on alot of downloads and i also noticed some of my files turned from good to bad when turned red from others downloading and it ticks me off i put alot of work in my music and i have to start over. i just cant remember what i had downloaded now that i had deleted the bad files.

SICK OF DISHONEST PEOPLE WHO DON'T CARE ABOUT CLEAN FILES AND BEING GOOD PEOPLE.

What weird message are you seeing??
What do you mean about files turning from good to bad?? Can you give us a bit more info?

Did you see red files in your library? Files in red aren't being shared, that's all. Right click > share file. Or restart LW.

Angry download issues

hi birdie i'm sorry i wasn't more specific. when i download some music files i get a man's voice like bill clinton's saying he didn't have relations with that woman then goes on to say something about ifreeclub.com. also i just learned tonight i can stop sharing my files so they won't get a virus. i had to delete at least 7 because when someone was downloading off me the songs went from good to that annoying message. and i worked hard for those songs cus they r off my old cassettes and vinyl records that i can't play anymore. i am on windows 2000 and i wasd told that i can get rid of viruses by deleteing and reinstalling limewire but i don't think that's correct.

Not sharing your files isn't going to stop you from getting a virus...if you download infected files & don't scan before opening them, that's when you'll get a virus. And if you're unknowingly sharing infected files, the people downloading from you may end up infected as well.

What you have to do is make sure that you're using a good antivirus (AV) program. keep it updated & scan every file that you download, before you open it. Watch file sizes in your search results & avoid files smaller than about 2000 KB. Also watch file extensions & make sure you don't download anything that's marked mp3.exe, or any music which shows a program icon instead of a music icon.
WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of!

The Bill clinton spam's been around for a while & most of the time it's just annoying...I guess some of those files are more than just spam.
the pres(Clinton spam file)
That Irritating Bill Clinton Cel Phone Ad

If files that used to be ok have suddenly started with that spam message, sounds like you've picked up some malware. Update your AV & scan your computer. If you don't have an AV program, here are some good free ones.
avast!
AVG free
Avira Antivir

And it's worth your while to scan for spy/adware too. These programs are all free.
Spybot S & D (free)
AVG Antispyware (formerly Ewido)
Ad-Aware SE Personal (free)

You absolutely cannot get rid of a virus by uninstalling/reinstalling LW!! If you're still having problems, try one of these sites for more specialised help.
