Never heard of it updating itself automatically. Are you sure you didn't get prompted to update through LW?

hi,
the same thing happened to me. limewire upgraded to 4.14 on its own and everytime i try to pause a download it freezes. the only way i can exit is by going to the task manager and ending it from processes (which isnt too good is it?).
1. OS version - xp
2. firewall - mc afee
3. ram - 512mb
4. Hard Disk space available - 18.1 GB
5. Connection type - broadband - cable (100mbps)
6. Where are you trying to connect from - house
7 version of LimeWire (LW) 4.14
8. Java do you have? 1.5.0
9. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? - it worked.

what do u suggest and why is this happening?
thanks

It seems that your Java is a little outdated. Try these fixes.
When Updating Java, be sure to UNINSTALL ALL Older Versions 1st.

Try these fixes.

Try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 OFFLINE version....

If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder/s...
