Strange sounds in downloaded songs.

Hellooo.

So I used to have a program called Mp3Rocket. It worked fine. Almost identical to LimeWire. Suddenly though whenever I downloaded a song it'd play a series of weird tones and beeps. I just figured it was a software problem. Just now I got Limewire, installed it, downloaded a song I wanted..and it does the same thing! I'm almost positive its not a spyware problem, because I ran a spyware scan last night, and I've run several since I stopped using Mp3Rocket with McAfee, Windows Defender, and Spybot.

Any suggestions?

Seems like the codecs, the programs that decode your music, have become corrupt.

Try installing the codecs found at these sites:

Codec Pack Standard

Download | CDex

You could also try using the VLC media player found here:

No luck with any of those. I can download videos just fine.

You know what I noticed? It starts to do its weird tone..then theirs sort of a weird rewinding sound that happens, and the song starts back over at 0 seconds again.

Have you checked your PC lately for viruses or worms?

Something has or is corrupting your system or your sound card is dying.

Just another suggestion, defrag your HD. A fragmented HD can have a detrimental affect on your sound (but I have never heard of anything that bad).

Good Luck

I think if it keeps happening with one song to try again and get rid of it.

I've downloaded every version of every song I've wanted to get so far... 50+ times. Some of the downloads...I've gotten before using the same download. So I know thats not the problem.

Hmm That IS weard...I'm confused as well....Anytime I had a problem it was a corrupt mp3 and when i replaced it it was fine....perhaps there something wrong with the player are you using windows media player? I just stopped using the limewire player and switched I did have a bunch of problems with WINAMP though...I got rid of WINAMP altogether and my windows player seems to work fine.....I'f you still have problems try updating your player again and see if that fixes it:Smilywais:

You might have a lot of problems that you dont no about if it is just that one song than most likely it's a bad file off a bad CD.But if your haveing program problems i would try useing (System Mechanic 7). This fixs stuff like hard drive problems and other stuff. But if you whant the full version you can buy it at any walmart for like 40$.It's worth the money for professional
