Help (how to use LW)
 

someone gave me limewire as a place to find and download music and then burn on to a CD. I just want a few songs for a project I am doing.
I went to the website, downloaded limewire, and then sat there. I can't find anyplace to look for music, much less down load it and then burn a cd. Just a n area that wants me to buy the mega limewire (but I did the basic) but I can't find any buttons to push to find music, or anything else. Being way over my head I found this forum.
Does anyone have the time to walk me through the steps, to make this work??? Appreciate it in advance

It sounds like you were scammed. LW Pro costs $21.95 for 6 months worth of free updates & email support, $34.95 for a year's worth. LW basic is free. The only official site for download is Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent «

There's no 'mega limewire'. Read through the threads below. If you've been scammed into paying for basic LW, contact your bank/CC company & report this. They may be able to stop payment.

I'd get rid of the LW version that you have now. Unless you download from the official site, there's no guarantee that you have a clean version.
Then download the free basic LW from the official site. Once you've done that, please read the LimeWire FAQ and User Guide

No I don't think I was scammed. I said mega, but it is actually called Pro. I went with "basic"until I figured out what this site will do, so I downloaded Basic, but can't figure out where to go from there.
Some people told me that I could find music, download it to library and the burn cd's, but I can't figure out how to do any of this.
can anyone walk me through the steps??? Or will limewire do all of this?

Click on the 'Limewire FAQ and User Guide' link in my previous post! That will help you.

You can't burn CDs with LW. You'll need a burning program. When you use LW to download songs, those songs are saved to your computer. You can use your burning program to burn those songs onto CD. For more info, use the forum search to look for burn.

Thankj you for the info. The mail problem i was having was when I donloaded lw, it would not bring up the screen that had all the stuff on it. It did once but not consistantly. I'll keep trying
