Downloading Limewire (no search results) after pressing enter when searching for something beside the search title this pops up ( only search results with a lock are offical Limewire comminications ) & sence it started doing this it never has any search results ? |
The orange warning banner with the padlock was added because there's a bogus LW update showing up in search results. It's a 75.7 KB .exe & shows up as "Urgent LimeWire update - download & install now". If people download that thing they could end up infected. To try to prevent people from downloading a dangerous file, the warning banner was added to LW's interface. The padlock symbol doesn't apply to music, movies etc...just to LW updates;) Is your LW connected properly (all green/blue connection bars)? If it is, try the fixes below. 1. In LW go tools > options > searching > basic & check whether the 'show license warning' box is ticked. If it does, untick it > Apply > ok...see if that makes any difference. 2. Problems with the search 3. Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location). Fixes for LimeWire This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. |
Search Help I have heard that it works to delete all the hosts listed under the 'connections" tab and let LW find more. This doesn't work for me though because I have no hosts listed to begin with. Any suggestions please? |
If your LW isn't connected (not connected to any hosts) then you won't be able to search! Please give us your details;) System details - help us to help you -> Provide these details when you post!!! |
