Try deleting LW's preference folder with LW completely shut down. Instructions in this thread points 2 & 3(check both locations): Fixes for Limewire. This will reset all your option settings, so make a note of them first.

If no joy, try uninstalling and deleting all versions of java from your Add or Remove Programs Control Panel. Then d/load and install Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11, use the offline installer.

If that doesn't help, do a virus scan. Let us know how you get on.

cyberknight,

If deleting the preferences folder & updating Java doesn't help, download AVGFree AV. Update it & then scan your computer.
AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition

Please let us know if AVG finds anything & if it does, whether the problem with options is fixed.

Were you downloading any files just before the problem started? If so, what type of files were they (wma, mp3 etc)? Do you normally scan downloaded files before opening them?

You might not have a folder called .limewire, that was the location of the preferences folder in much older versions. The preferences folder is now C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\LimeWire.

The Application Data folder's hidden by default, so you'll need to show hidden files & folders to be able to see it (control panel > folder options > view > check the radio button to show hidden files & folders > apply > ok).
