Is your LW connected (all green/blue connection bars)? If so, try these fixes. 1. In LW go tools > options > searching > basic & check whether the 'show license warning' box is ticked. If it does, untick it > Apply > ok...see if that makes any difference. 2. Problems with the search 3. Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location). Fixes for LimeWire This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. In case you have Vista: LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista If LW isn't connected, please give us your details. System details - help us to help you -> Provide these details when you post!!! It says it is connected when I click on "file" but down on the bottom left there is only one bar that is green and it says starting connection. It also says "limewire has detected a firewall" my firewalls are turned off. When I type in a song or name no searches results come up, but it shows the green bar as it searches. |

You'll have to sort out your connection problem before LW will be able to search properly! First of all, make sure that you're only using 1 software firewall & that LW's being allowed through it. Next, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location). Fixes for LimeWire This will change all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later. In case you're using Vista: LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista Some people have had connection problems with certain Java versions. You can either try updating to the latest version here (I have this one & LW's working fine): Java SE Downloads or try this older version, which has worked well for lots of people: Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 Whichever Java version you use, download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions before installing another one. If nothing helps, click on the blue link below & give us your details. System details - help us to help you -> Provide these details when you post!!! |

I don't use McAfee, but have a look below. Port Forwarding for the McAfee Security Center If that doesn't help, use Google to look for info. |

Nothing is working. Lime wire still won't connect. I have windows vista, (LW) is 4.14.10 pro, Java 1.6.0-oem. Connect with broadband. Right now I only have windows firewall. ISP is Roadrunner from Timewarner cable. Live in US. I had Norton. I am connecting from home. This is a new problem with Limewire that started at the end of last week. I just recently upgraded to pro which sucks because I can't use it so it's a waste of money. I did the test and it said "Your test worked" and there is a firewall in front of the world at the bottom, but my firewalls have been turned off and Limewire is on my list to allow through the firewall. What else can I do to make it work? |
