Default Need More Sources

Every so often, when I'm downloading a file, it comes up with need more sources. The files I select are the ones with the highest number. SHould I be doing something different?

On some occasions it can be that all sources with the file are busy or have turned off their computers. If the number is very high then this should never happen, but if this is a problem with most of the files you try to download then consider upgrading internet connection or version of Limewire. Check to see if you have a firewall as well (see if a brick wall is on the globe symbol at the bottom of the screen). If, as you say, it only happens occasionally then just try another search result.

Default Need More Sources Problem

Thanks so much for the reply. As long as I have multiple sources then I can download OK. I have DSL and it is very fast-so I don't think my problem lies in my internet speed or connection. I do have a firewall and I wonder if I should remove this firewall. Have you ever done this? Is there much to doing this ? Also-is it worth the risk to remove the firewall ? What do you think ? Thanks again.

As long as you're careful with what you download in Limewire removing the firewall should pose no problem at all. If you use the Windows firewall then Limewire should automatically except itself from being firewalled, meaning that you don't run the risk of letting in nasty viruses from anywhere else. If you don't have the Windows firewall then a visit to the website of your firewall or anti-virus provider is an idea. They know far more than I do. I think it's certainly worth a try.

I have the same issue as the thread starter except that I get the "Need More Sources" message with every file. I read several posts and followed their suggestions regarding the files could be bad or the sources are no longer online and shutting off the Firewall, all to no avail.

A good example of my problem is a particular file that I wanted to download had many many hits, several hundred in fact. Quite a few of these have multiple hosts. Just to see if the problem was isolated to a few files, I tried them all. Everyone of those several hundred files came back with need more sources. Different files give the same results.

I have had no trouble in the past with LimeWire but, recently I had a Hard Drive problem and had to replace it. In that process I had to download the newest version of LimeWire and now I am having trouble with it. I have the latest version of Java (if that makes a difference). Any thoughts?

It sometimes happens to me, but what I have noticed is that it is only a file that is popular such as a brand new song or video.

There are a few problems with the latest version of Limewire (I assume you are referring to 4.14.10) which I think some of the big forum members have produced threads on. Take a look around.

Just right click and click "Get More Sources."
Simple really. You may have to wait for 30 seconds, and if nothing comes up after that, then try downloading something else the same.

Thanks so much for your reply. I do have the Windows firewall and if I disable it I can download without getting the need more sources message. I'm just a little wary of not having the firewall in place. What I am doing now is going back and putting the firewall back in place after using Limewire. Thanks again.
