Help downloading BITTORRENT files First of all greetings to all and thank you for any help you may be able to provide. I am a novice to computers but I am eager to get my feet wet. My first obstacle on the Internet is downloading bittorrent files, for some reason when I attempt to download from a URL the only thing that occurs is that a new window opens in explorer and my Limewire program adds the file to my files to be downloaded. Is this the proper response for my actions or am I completely lost? |
That's correct. First you download the initial file (seed I think it's called) which is what will tell LW what the file needed is. Then that needs to be fed into LW. LW may open it automatically or else, you may need to add it yourself using the LW File menu. After that it is then in the LW download window & will attempt to connect to others who are sharing parts of or the whole file. :) |
Thanks for the prompt response, I now have a better understanding of bittorrent files. Though I am not pleased by what I've learned it never helps to be ignorant of the facts. The fact is I have a lot to learn. Thanks again. |
