Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Hi, Thanks so much for replying Sorry taken so long to reply back but had pc probs and only now back on line, Your post did confuse me a little lol as im not sure how i try to find the songs from the older version (sorry im not very tech when it comes to computers lol ) The old songs are still playing in windows media and real player so they must still be on computer but where i have no idea lol Could you explain if you dont mind how i can search for them i have looked but still not found them. Many thanks again Lisa |

Hi Lisa, Sorry if I confused you. I confuse myself Just look in C:\Documents and Settings\ your username\Shared. Hopefully that's where your downloads are, because that's where older versions of LW saved them by default. If they're not in that place, use your computer's search. Search for some of the song names. When you go into the search, click on 'All Files & Folders'. Next, click on 'More Advanced Options'. Now make sure that you have it ticked to search subfolders, hidden files & folders & do not have 'Case Sensitive' ticked |

Did you add your original saved/shared folder for sharing in the new version? In LW tools > options > sharing > click Add > browse for your old folder > once you find that, click Select > Apply > ok. I reckon it's confusing. People can add their original folder for sharing (that's what I did)...in that case there'll be 2 shared folders...the original one & the default shared folder from the new version. Clicking on 'view my shared files' (just above LW's connection bars) will bring up the shared files in LW's library. Then there'll be 2 shared folders showing up under Shared Files in the library. Or, people can totally change the saving & sharing locations in the new version & make their sharing location the same as their original sharing location. Then there'll be just the one shared folder showing in LW's library. Tools > options > sharing is where you can change the location of the shared folder. Tools > options > saving to change saved folder location. Or, people can simply move all of their files from the old shared/saved folders into the new version's shared/saved folders. You can't do that from within LW's library...you'll have to open the folders outside of LW & move things. People who were using version 4.14 or older will find the new version a bit strange because the saved & shared folder used to be the same...saved files were shared by default , so there was only one folder. Let me know if any of that helps. |

Hi there. You really seem to know your stuff! I have a query I hope you can help me with. I run XP, same as you on a modern machine. I've just recently updated to 4.16.6 and I'm struggling to get the downloaded music to move to the files I want them in. I am still downloading the music successfully and I am able to locate it in the new folders that limewire is placing it in (see your other threads abouthow to find it etc). My issue is now that limewire is placing the downloads in these new files I cannot seperate them myself into further subdivisions. I'll elaborate; Previously, limewire put each individual track i downloaded as a realplayer file in the 'my documents' section of my pc. I had a file called 'downloaded music' which when opened had a further set of sub-files split into genre. All of the downloaded music was sat in this file as individual tracks that could be dragged and dropped into the approriate genre sub-file. Now that limewire is sticking my music into these new locations I am unable to do anything with it. Its in those new locations and that seems to be just it. Yes, its nice that limewire provide a media player for the music but its crap and the music cant be sorted. I've tried to follow your instructions and set my document folder as the place that it sends the new downloaded music but to no avail. Any further suggestions?? Thank you in advance Adam |

Hi Adam, Yes, the LW player's crap You should be able to set your original saved folder location (Downloaded Music, within My Documents) as the saving location in the new version. As a test, I made a folder in the same place, with subfolders for different genres & made that my new saving location...maybe you're missing a step somewhere? Once you've created the folders that you want to use for saving.... In LW tools > options > saving > click 'Browse'. Browse for the folder that you want to save to. Once you've found the Downloaded Music folder, click 'Select'. After you've clicked 'Select', click 'Apply'. Now a new dialog box will show, asking you if you want to share your new saved folder & it's subfolders. Tick whatever folders you wnat to share & then click 'ok'. You'll go back to LW's saving options box. click Apply > ok. Once you've done that, go back into LW's tools > options > saving. Check that your saved folder now shows as the new location. As long as your folder location's been saved...the next file you download should go straight to the 'Downloaded Music' folder. Then you can move the file into one of the subfolders, depending on genre. The mp3 file is one I just downloaded. Once you have all of that set up correctly, your new saved folder & it's subfolders will show up in your library, when you click on Shared Files. Let me know if you're still having problems |

Thank you very much Birdy for your help. But it didn't help. Everything that everyone has been saying sounds right up until the folder things. On my computer it doesn't say that I have any folders under shared. I went to documents, Limewire, Shared, and there's nothing in shared? |
