What the heck is this all about? Mojito dht/ultapeer/tls
 

Hello guys, i have only just started to use (Limewire Pro 4.14.12)

I have noticed the new version's have an option for (Mojito Dht) (Ultrapeer) and (TLS)

Can any of you kind folks, please explain to me, if i need to have these functions enabled in limewire, or should they be disabled?

In my previouse version of limewire (4.12.11) i had the Ultrapeer function disabled & i never experienced any kind of problems!

Plz explain what these options are for & do i enable or disable them?

Also i have noticed a pop up box appear, to alert me, whenever a download has completed... How do i disable this pop up?

Mojito DHT is for when using Limewire for torrents. If you only use the Gnutella network, then there is no need for it being active.

UltraPeers (UPs) handle the grouping of searches making the network efficient. If you have spare bandwidth then you can be one of them and connect to max. 32 other UPs and 32 leafs (normal users) making your searches a little more effective than the normal 3 or 5 connected UPs will.

TLS I haven't got the faintest idea about. Better let someone else try and answer that one.

Thanx for the tip sleeples! I've disabled (Mojito) because i very rarley use torrents, so not much use to me!

I have left (ultrapeers) enabled, are u saying this will improve my search results? without effecting any download speeds?

Just one last question for you sleeples, hope u can help me on this matter!

When i go in the (Limewire) library, i have noticed another search field & it reads "search in shared files" now what is the function of this??????

It will affect download speed a little if you max your bandwidth. A typical UP will be using on average 2-3KB/s for searches I would guess. On peaks probably 10KB/s. But if you have bandwidth to spare that's no problem. If you don't then I recommend you keep it off.

TLs is just for more Secure Communications.All it really do's is Use more of your Cpu So it's best to turn it off.

tranceliner, did you just pay for LW 4.14.12 Pro? The latest version of Pro is 4.16.4. If you just bought 4.14.12 from somewhere, you have been scammed.

That allows you to search in your files for a particular song or artist. Let's say you had 20 songs by (artist name) in your library & wanted to find those songs amidst all your other files....type the artist name into the 'search in shared files' text field > enter. Now all of the songs by that artist will show up. Same deal for song titles.

TLS encrypts your connections so the ISP will not know what you're doing
 

TLS is used to encrypt your connections so ISPs will not be able to know what it is that you are doing. So DEFINITELY, keep it activated.

Note: Developers dedicate a long time to implement improvements to software. So please, do not just deactivate because it "Uses more of your CPU". Personally, I use gtk-gnutella (it is similar to LimeWire but written in C not in Java). It uses only 1%-2% of my CPU even with TLS enabled.

Newer CPUs have been improved to encrypt faster than older CPUs, so if LimeWire uses a lot of your CPU, it is probably because your CPU is old.
