Unhappy

I had the problem before I got the new verison. I got so frustrated I removed LW completely and wasn't going to use it again. But I missed it so I had to pay for it again as my previous subscription had expired. When I did reinstall I got two movies fairly quickly, but I have about 10 now which aren't moving at all and, as retro said, some are even going backwards. Surely the LW people have to address this issue.

Ah Belfast ... warning ... if any of you are from the UK, that includes Ireland, then it may well be your ISP's at fault. Not necessarily but possibly. Most ISP's in UK are anti p2p sharing. And since most isp's there have the same overall owner such as Tiscali for example, they will employ different techniques to prevent sharing.

Try downloading a magnet link from here: + MagnetMix.com +: The Source for Good Content
That is a site, so it should download fast. If not, your ISP is most likely at fault.

I deleted all the downloads that I had started before the update and the problem seems to have gone away.

The video files still freeze but after a few seconds of being frozen LW opens a dialogue box telling me the file is corrupted and asking if I want to continue downloading.

I've tried with two video files (with a lot of hosts) and happened on both. The videos turned out to be fine, so it must be a small corruption (like the ID tag or something)

Am trying to access the site but it's taking ages. Did you mean the site access or actual download within the site should load quickly?

The helpers here aren't developers, just volunteers.

If you think there's a bug in the latest LW, you need to post at this other forum. Then the developers might see your posts.

Once you click one of the video links, it will open up in LW & start downloading.

hmm ... considering that is a site, not another user, then it does sound suspicious. Those magnet link files are free to copy.

A couple of options I can think of. (1a) One is back up all your settings in LW, make a note of them all. Then delete the LW prefs folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) Vista users see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...der-vista.html

(1b) Make sure your days to keep incomplete files is set to a large number such as 9999 days. The default age is 7 days.
(1c) Make sure your hard disk drives have plenty of space on them. And Defragment the drives occasionally. Remember, you can always right-click a download & change location or choose save as & choose location, if your main drive or partition is getting too full. In that case, I'd suggest changing your save/share location.

(2) Try another gnutella program such as Phex & see if same thing happens with those magnet link video files: Phex - Download
You can always uninstall Phex later. But if same problems with Phex, then sounds like your ISP's are causing the problems. BTW Phex has some nice attributes. One being that it connects to more gnutella client programs, unlike LW which mostly only connects to other LW users. And Phex has a size filter. Phex's downside is the interface is not as intuitive to new users as LW is. It takes a little to get used to understanding how it works. (Note: for magnet links to download in Phex or another gnutella program, you will need to change default magnet handler program. Otherwise LW will try to download it as it does now.)
