Default Download Problems?

Ok, first off, everything has been running great... getting my usual download speed of around 80-95 Kb/s sometimes more, connecting to maximum hosts, etc. Around 2 days ago my speeds have dropped dramatically, getting speeds similar to that of Dial-up (56k Modem) if I'm lucky to get that. It's not connecting to no more than 1 hosts. My connection is fine, my webpages load like they should and regular downloads (Direct Downloads and the such) speeds are normal... LW was running great then all of a sudden it just bombed out.

Any suggestions? or anything?

If this helps to clear anything up then here is my system stats or whatever:

-Windows XP Home Edition (Service Pack 2)
-Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz
-512 MB of RAM (I have extra RAM Sticks installed as well)
- I'm Running The Latest Limewire Pro

Help is appreciated. Thanks.

I think Hughsnet is the culprit here. They do have a FAP. See Link Below

It's not Hughsnet. I realize they have a FAP (Fair Access Policy) and this isn't whats causing it. I also realize that when FAP is placed on my account, my download rate will become that of dialup, if not slower. I've contacted HughesNet about it and my account isnt under FAP.

Perhaps its Limewire itself? I just downloaded "Phex" and I'm getting higher speeds.... not normal speeds, but its a difference, getting around 15-20 KB/s sometimes 30 KB/s

Edit: Correction, I've hit the 80 KB/s mark.... and maintained it for quite a while... then started getting around 60-70 KB/s

You could do a couple speed tests. Try doing them at different times of the day to get a good average of your speed. At peak usage times your speed will probably be slower than at off peak times.

Speakeasy - Speed Test

Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test

Don't get confused between kilobits(kbs) and kilobytes(KBs), there are 8 bits to 1 Byte. So if the test shows results in kilobits, divide by 8 to get kilobytes. LW shows speeds in kilobytes: SpeedGuide.net :: Bits/Bytes Calculator

Glade Phex is working out. As you said, It may very well be something funky with LW. It seems to me that quite a few people are having trouble with 4.16.xx. I have 4.17 and all is well.

And the speed tests will let you know if Hughsnet is telling you the truth. 99% of the time, These ISP will Lie right to your face.

Lol. True. I'm always running speed tests lately to make sure, I use various ones, and seems to me they all average around the same; Even the one HughesNet suggests.

I don't know. Limewire is funky I suppose? :| Downloading things fine with Phex. Downloaded 5 Songs in the past 2-3 mins... =\ Going pretty quick.
