Downloads disappear into PC. I have a named file to download to. It remains empty. The missing files are not located by a general Search. This started a few days ago and it worked fine until then. What's up? |
I un and re installed Lime Pro - no change. Downloaded one video, checked the default file and a general search for video and the new one is missing. Maybe I should switch to the other one listed on Download.com. Any ideas guys? |
Sounds like some kind of corruption in the preference folder. Try deleting it with Limewire closed of course. Do a search on the forum for preference or preference folder for more detailed instructions. |
hey everyone I'm new here and am not real adept at this so here goes.I used to have limewire til it dissapeared a couple of days ago, since then I have reloaded several times and it doesn't exactly dissapear but not sure what to do, it goes into files and can open them but isn't opening as music just aas files also not seeming to be connected to the shortcut icon on the desk top |
Problem continues. That folder suggestion didn't work but thanks for the effort. I remove Lime via the uninstall program that comes with it. I look in Control Panel for Lime and its not there. I check Windows clean up and its not listed. Then I download FrostWire. Keeping everything as Frost suggests, no folder name changes etc I download a video. It disappears into the void. Like it was never downloaded. The default folder is empty. A standard search for videos is empty. Nothing. If it is downloaded where would it be? It went somewhere. You guys can solve this. |
Well you say you downloaded Frostwire, and from your post I gather that happened without difficulty. That means that http downloads have no problems being moved from the temporary files after they are finished downloading. This tells me that the corruption is most definitely in part of the Limewire/Frostwire install. Try uninstalling Limewire and Frostwire and deleting the entire Limewire/frostwire folder in application data. go to Start->Run type regedit and press enter. navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->Software and delete the Limewire and Frostwire folders. Download and clean your registry using ccleaner, just in case something was left behind. Now install one of the programs again and try downloading something. If your downloads still disappear then the corruption isn't caused by Limewire and you need to start looking at your security programs. |
Very interesting. I'll do as you suggest. I'll be back and let ya know about the results. Your comment on security reminded me I re-downloaded PCCillin prior to the problem. When I originally downloaded PCCillin it didn't have this effect. I'll be back. Many many Thanks. |
I did it all Sleepless. Something worked. Thanks. |
