![]() I've tried everything to get some search results on LimeWire, and still no results. It's saying it detects a firewall, so I disabled the firewall, and it still detects a firewall... so then I uninstalled my firewall and restarted my computer and it STILL detects a firewall. What else can I do? LimeWire is added to my McAfee allow list for programs, and this problem happened first about one month ago. Before that I never had a problem. I contacted McAfee support and this is what they told me (I did this and still.. nothing...) 1. Open a new notepad 2. Copy and paste the following information in the notepad: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\McAfee\Redirector\Port s] "*"="Ignore" "443"="Ignore" "5190"="Ignore" "5191"="Ignore" "8505"="Ignore" "1755"="Ignore" "554"="Ignore" "80"="Ignore" 3. Click on “File” in the Menu bar of the notepad window and then click on “Save As” 4. Type the file name as “fix.reg” (It can also be any file name but the extension should be .reg) 5. In the “Save as type” field, select “All Files” 6. Click “Save” and complete the saving process 7. Go back to the location where you save the file and look for the same registry file with the name by which you saved it 8. Double click on it and run it, click “Yes” if you get any warning message that says “Are you sure if you want to add this entry to the registry” 9. Retry the application (Limewire, Scottrade, Itunes etc..,) which had problems 10. It should work or you can also try to restart the computer and try. Add the LimeWire ports. 1. Open the McAfee Security Center. 2. Click on ‘Internet & Network’. 3. Click on ‘Configure’ to the right which is above the ‘View Details. 4. Click on ‘Firewall Protection’. 5. Click on the ‘Advanced’ button below it. 6. In the window that opens please click on ‘System Services’ to the top left 7. At the lower portion of the new screen click on ‘Add’ as shown in the figure below and add the following two ports: a. Program Name: LimeWire Port number to add under System Services: 48213 b. Program Name: Manual Forward Port number to add under System Services: 6346 8. Click on ‘Apply’. 9. Click on ‘Ok’ and restart the computer. |

![]() OMG I am soo mad... I was browsing around PerezHilton.com and saw an article about my ISP (pretty strange)... here is an excerpt from the article: "The Federal Communications Commission found on Aug. 1 that Comcast had improperly blocked peer-to-peer programs like BitTorrent that are used to share video and other files." Could this have been why it wasn't working? I did end up fixing my problem, thanks to the troubleshooting of the link you posted. ![]() |
