Question exe/zip

correct URL? http://www.gnutellaforums.com/open-d...e-sharing.html

the tools - options looks different to mine and I have no security in the list. Oops - that's because I'm at the wrong computer which is OK: Shall look at the other computer when I'm there.

That's only if you're using LW 5, if using LW 4 then it's different. LW 4 has no default blocking of sharing softw. & you can check extensions shared for LW 4 under Tools > Options > Shared > Types. To make sure they're not blocked from downloading check Tools > Options > Filters > Keyword.
For LW 5 it should be as that link above shows.

For preferences folder, depends on which Windows version you are using. Vista has a different location, as that link I gave earlier suggested. Also, if you started using LW several years ago, it might even be in the original location. Scroll back up to point #2 in post #1 of that thread. It 'might' be there under the name of .limewire instead of limewire.

Default %userprofile%\Application Data\limewire

%userprofile%\Application Data\limewire is for version 4 on XP. No limewire directory exists under application data on C drive.

the options for 5 fixed the problem for zip files.

so is all ok now?

I'm not sure how to deal with the changing drive letters for Windows. If it were a mac it would be different because you could name/rename the actual external drives & that's how it would read it afaik (eg: Lord's Flash LW volume). Windows has such an archaic technique ... excuse my comment but, still loosely based on DOS.

I wonder if it would make a difference with the order in which you connect the flash drives. Example if you always connect them in same order, then windows will see them connected to same drive letters. eg: Connect the one with LW's files on first always .. or 2nd always, etc. And likewise LW will not get confused.
