Excellent connection-Cannot download Audio I have been using the free version of LW and have had no problems connecting (other than it takes a while) and have been able to download audio files, again with no problems until yesterday. When I go to "select search type" and click on "Audio", it does absolutely nothing but stays on "All types" and although I have 5 full bars of connectivity, it won't let me search there either. I am not seeing any firewalls detected. It's driving me nuts, please help! |

Try deleting your preference folder...The instructions on this are within this Sticky... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html If that doesn't do the trick try this.... Go to your Connections Tab in limewire, if it's not showing up go to Veiw > Show/Hide and make sure the connection tab has a tick next to it... Then click on the Hosts and remove them and let Limewire search for some more... (try to take note of the hosts IP numbers if the same ones keep re-appearing add them to your host filter...) Tools > Options > Filters and select the Host Filter and add these IP's into it and select apply... Try installing PeerGuardian, it will help keep the fake hosts out...Remember to enable PG just before you start limewire up... Phoenix Labs » PeerGuardian 2 If you're using Vista, there's this PG2 Beta available for Vista users. PeerGuadian 2 for Windows Vista beta released - Phoenix Labs PeerGuardian 2:Manual - Phoenix Labs Wiki Another thing if you are using limewire 4.13 and later you can apply this hostile list...This will block known fake IP addresses... The TechNutopia Fullsize Hostiles List for BearShare and LimeWire

Connecting isn't my issue, I have excellent connection (all green bars)...I cannot open the audio search option, it's like it's frozen on the "all types" and won't let me search from there either. I have completely shut LW down, waited and come back to it later and it's still doing the same thing. |

Unfortunately that did nothing but make everything in my library disappear completely ...I still can't search for anything. I clicked on "audio" and I got a message about de-bugging and should I send a report to limewire (see below). I am not very computer savvy and am really frustrated that I just lost all of my songs for nothing. AARRGGHH!! Message I recieved when I signed back on to LW and clicked on the audio search option... This is Limewire. The official website is www.limewire.com. Limewire has encountered an internal error. It is possible for limewire to recover and continue running normally. To aid with debugging, please click 'send' to notify Limewire about the problem. If desired, you can click 'review' to look at the information that will be sent. Thank you. -Always send immediately -Always ask for review -Always discard all errors Last edited by missodie; September 12th, 2008 at 03:12 PM. |

Your music should still be there, deleting the preference folder has never caused music to be deleted before... Try these suggestions and see if they help... Try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then use Crap Cleaner to clean the registry. Try updating to the latest version of Java here Java SE Downloads If the latest update gives you any problems, try this older version, which has worked well for lots of people: Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 Whichever Java version you use, download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions (via Add/Remove Programs) before installing another one. If none of the above fix your problem you will need to start fresh using the offline installers for both Limewire and Java... UGH! Absolutely nothing is working, I had to start fresh with downloading Java and limewire. Java loaded fine, but now I am having issues loading limewire. It gets almost completely through the downloading process and then a box pops up that reads "installation is corrupted. Please download and install Limewire again"...I have tried "again" multiple times and keep getting the same message. I really like being able to download all of the great music and even though I really don't want to, at this point, I'm so frustrated, I'm almost ready to throw in the towel and say "forget it". |

Thank you for your help, and Phex downloaded fine, but I'm really not sure I like the set up. When I did an audio search for an artist, I couldn't tell in the list what any of the songs were like you can on limewire...you can call me picky if you'd like, but seeing how I am not all that tech savvy, I would prefer to know which song/artist I am trying to download. Do you have any other ideas. Is there any way at all that I can get back to Limewire??? It gets all the way to the point (when I'm downloading limewire) where it says "unpacking files", then I get the "installation is corrupted" message. |

Hmmm...I think you need to start fresh....Maybe when you uninstalled LW a few files where left behind somewhere... The correct way to uninstall is Start > All programs > Limewire/Uninstaller Use your computer's search to look for all files & folders with limewire in the name. If you can't delete them, reboot into safe mode & then try. If they still won't delete, try one of the tools here... Incomplete Download File won't delete at all. Once you have it uninstalled use this link to reinstall... http://www9.limewire.com/download/LimeWireWin-full.exe
